In 1924 Adolf Hitler spent 264 days incarcerated in Landsberg after being convicted of treason following the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich the previous year. During his imprisonment, Hitler dictated and then wrote his book 'Mein Kampf' with assistance from his deputy, Rudolf Hess.
During the occupation of Germany by the Allies after World War II, the US Army designated the prison as War Criminal Prison No. 1 to hold convicted Nazi war criminals.
Between 1945 and 1946, the prison housed a total of 110 prisoners convicted at the Nuremberg trials, a further 1416 war criminals from the Dachau trials and 18 prisoners convicted in the Shanghai trials.
In five and half years, Landsberg prison was the place of execution of nearly 300 condemned war criminals. 259 death sentences were conducted by hanging and 29 by firing squad. Executions were carried out expeditiously. In May 1946 twenty eight former SS guards from Dachau were hanged within a four-day period.
Bodies that were not claimed were buried in unmarked graves in the cemetery next to the Spöttingen chapel.

The sentence "Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose." was written by Gertrude Stein as part of the 1913 poem Sacred Emily, which appeared in the 1922 book Geography and Plays. In that poem, the first "Rose" is the name of a person. Stein later used variations on the sentence in other writings, and "A rose is a rose is a rose" is probably her most famous quotation, often interpreted as meaning "things are what they are", a statement of the law of identity, "A is A"

Stanley, Tasmania
History of the Stanley Hotel
John Whitbread was found guilty of poaching rabbits in England when he was just a boy aged 15, and was sentenced to seven years in Van Diemen’s Land. He arrived in Hobart in 1828. As a convict his record was of good behaviour and when he later settled in Stanley he became a fine citizen, business man and host. He built the hotel and named it the Emily Hotel, now the Stanley Hotel.
He bought the block on which it stands from the VDL for £20 and the building was licensed as a hotel around 1847. He married Eliza Toysbin and descendants still live in the local area.
In the book A Residence in Tasmania, published in 1856, Butler Stoney describes the Emily Hotel as it was in 1853.
He said that on arrival in Stanley “a good and comfortable hotel rewards the weary traveller…Mr Whitbread’s establishment is a fine large stone-built house with many good and well-furnished rooms and every attention is paid to his guests”.
The Hotel has been continually licensed since 1847 under various names, the Emily, Freemason’s, The Union and now the Stanley Hotel.
A Russian man has been sentenced to two years in prison for discrediting the Russian army after his daughter drew a picture about the war in Ukraine. The girl had previously been taken away from her father because, according to the court, he "raised her badly".
Thirteen-year-old Masha Moskalyova made a drawing about the war in Ukraine in April last year: on one side a Ukrainian flag with the words "Glory to Ukraine". Next to the flag are a woman and child. The woman raises her arm to ward off bombs from Russia. On the other side is a Russian flag, which reads "No to Putin, No to war".
The school the girl attended called the police after seeing the drawing. She started an investigation into her father, Aleksej Moskalyov. For a social media post in which he spoke out against the war in Ukraine, the father was fined 32,000 rubles, now about 385 euros. Subsequently, a criminal case was also filed against him, again because of a post on social media. Since March 2022, a number of new articles of law have been in force in Russia, under which you can receive fines and prison sentences of up to 15 years for spreading "false information" about the Russian army. This law also makes it a criminal offense in Russia to describe the war as "war". According to the government, the correct name is still "special military operation".
The provisions make it virtually impossible in Russia to protest against the policies of the Kremlin. Political opposition and ordinary people who speak out against the war risk potentially being imprisoned for decades. All free media have been silenced.
Moskalyov, a single father, was under house arrest until recently. His daughter was taken away from him and taken to a children's home, they were not allowed to have contact with each other. The father was also not allowed to leave his house when the court decided to limit his parental rights for the time being. The trial will start at the beginning of next month and Moskalev may lose custody of his daughter for good.
The man has now also been sentenced to two years in prison, in absentia. According to authorities, Moskalyov escaped from house arrest last night. His lawyer says he last saw him yesterday. His daughter Masja has not been seen in public since March 1. According to her father's lawyer, she is now in foster care, but could be sent to an orphanage within a month.
That lawyer says that the case only came for political reasons. "The family only got in trouble after the girl drew the picture," he told a BBC reporter.

Heritage home known as Quinnipiac on Winter Ave. St. John's, Newfoundland. Built in 1884 on a large plot of land. This beautiful heritage home has recently been sold to greedy developers who plan on and have no qualms about tearing down this unique home in the name of the almighty dollar. Shame on all who are involved in this travesty, including an incompetent City Council who let this happen on their watch. Everyone has blood on their hands here. The house is already being stripped of it's interior trims and fixtures and will fall victim to the wrecking ball soon. It was lived in until the sale and is beautiful inside. This was not a derelict property. Which irreplaceable piece of our past is up on the block next for greedy developers?
The bleak heathlands and steep wooded combes around Hindhead were long known to be the haunt of Highwaymen and common thieves who preyed on travellers struggling up and down the long incline around the Devil's Punch Bowl. Such were their reputation that those wanting to journey over the heaths on the London to Portsmouth road would wait in the local inns to form parties before venturing onto the road, believing in the safety of numbers.
No such luck for the Unknown Sailor.
He is first recorded as visiting the Red Lion Inn at Thursley (just beyond the wooded ridge in the image) as he was walking from London to join his ship at Portsmouth on 24 September 1786. There he met three other seafarers, James Marshall, Michael Casey and Edward Lonegon. He generously paid for their drinks and food and was last seen leaving for Hindhead Hill (the Punch Bowl) with them. The three seafarers almost decapitated him, stripped him of his clothes and threw him down the valley. The three then made their way down the London to Portsmouth road and were arrested a few hours later trying to sell the murdered sailor's clothes at the Sun Inn in Rake near Petersfield.
Six months later they were sentenced and hung on chains on the summit of Gibbet Hill just a few yards from this memorial. Their bodies remained on the gibbet for years picked clean by the crows as a warning to others.
The memorial appears in Charles Dickens' novel 'Nicholas Nickleby' published in 1838-9.
'They [Nicholas Nickleby and Smike] walked upon the rim of the Devil's Punch Bowl; and Smike listened with greedy interest as Nicholas read the inscription upon the stone which, reared upon that wild spot, tells of a murder committed there by night. The grass on which they stood, had once been dyed with gore; and the blood of the murdered man had run down, drop by drop, into the hollow which gives the place its name. 'The Devil's Bowl,' thought Nicholas, as he looked into the void, 'never held fitter liquor than that!'
Even the memorial has a curse: 'Cursed be the Man who injureth or removeth this Stone.'
The area became synonymous with tales of hauntings, apparitions and witchcraft and in 1851 Sir William Erle paid for the erection of a granite Celtic Cross on Gibbet Hill on the site of the scaffold to dispel the superstitions.
“In truth, it was not so much his opinions as his audacity in thinking that condemned him.” (on the Bruno case — Arthur Schopenhauer)
GIORDANO BRUNO—Giordano Bruno (Nola, 1548 – Rome, 17 February 1600) was a philosopher, Dominican friar, writer, poet, and one of the most radical and free minds in European history. His name does not stand only for a victim of the Inquisition: it stands for a rupture. Bruno broke the mental architecture of the medieval and dogmatic world—not through superficial rebellion, but through immense intellectual work and a rare moral force: the refusal to kneel.
Bruno was not killed for a single sentence. He was killed because he was too great, too free, too dangerous: because he made a new human being possible—a human being who thinks without a master.
Origins and formation
He was born in Nola, in the Kingdom of Naples, in 1548. His birth name was Filippo Bruno; he took the name Giordano when he entered the Dominican Order. Very young, he moved to Naples, into a vibrant cultural environment where philosophy, literature, and theology coexisted in constant tension. He was brilliant, hungry for knowledge, and profoundly allergic to every form of dogma.
He entered the convent of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples. There he studied Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas, and the classics, but also texts outside orthodoxy. Bruno was an “impossible” friar: not made for obedience. His mind was made for research and contradiction. Accusations of heresy began early: Bruno read, debated, doubted, attacked superstition, and refused mechanical devotion.
Flight from Italy and European exile
When he understood that the inquisitorial machine was closing in, Bruno fled. Thus began a wandering European life that lasted for years: Geneva, Toulouse, Paris, London, Oxford, Wittenberg, Prague, Helmstedt, Frankfurt… Bruno became a European intellectual before Europe existed as a modern idea.
This was not a peaceful exile: wherever he went, he caused scandal. Because Bruno was not accommodating. He did not seek protection. He sought truth. He challenged professors, theologians, academies. He exposed cultural hypocrisy. He defended freedom of thought with an energy that made him beloved by a few and hated by many.
Major works: what he left behind
Bruno left a vast body of philosophical and literary work. Among the most important:
La cena de le Ceneri (1584): a dialogue in which he discusses cosmology and attacks closed, authoritarian mentalities.
De la causa, principio et uno (1584): a philosophical work on the deep principle of reality and the structure of being.
De l’infinito, universo e mondi (1584): perhaps his most revolutionary text; it proclaims an infinite universe and multiple worlds, rejecting the closed and hierarchical medieval cosmos.
Lo spaccio de la bestia trionfante (1584): a satirical and philosophical attack on moral vices and spiritual degradation.
De gli eroici furori (1585): a high work that fuses philosophy and poetry, presenting the desire for the infinite as the heroic drive of the soul.
Another crucial line of his work concerns the art of memory (mnemonics), but not as a scholastic exercise: as the strengthening of the mind, as the construction of thought itself.
To say “Bruno was a philosopher” is not enough. Bruno was an architect of consciousness.
His most explosive idea: the infinite
Bruno broke the idea of a closed, finite universe with a single center, governed by metaphysical hierarchies in which human beings must obey.
He imagined a cosmos without center, without limits, filled with worlds. An infinite universe means one terrible thing for power: if the universe is infinite, then no authority can claim to be “the center.”
This was not only a scientific issue; it was a political and religious one. It undermined the mental scaffolding through which souls were controlled.
Why he truly disturbed power
Bruno disturbed power on several fronts—each deadly in his time:
1) Radical freedom of thought: Bruno did not negotiate—he thought. In a system built on dogma, a man like that becomes contagion.
2) Infinite cosmology and plurality of worlds: not just astronomy, but an assault on hierarchy, on the “center” of authority.
3) Ferocious critique of superstition and hypocrisy: Bruno did not whisper—he exposed and ridiculed lies.
4) A new idea of the human being: not born to obey, but to know. A bomb.
Return to Italy: the trap
After years of exile, Bruno returned to Italy. It was a tragic passage: perhaps he hoped for stability, perhaps he underestimated the danger. He was denounced, arrested, and handed to the Inquisition.
Trial and imprisonment
Bruno spent years in prison. The Inquisition did not only seek to condemn him: it sought to break him. Interrogations, pressure, demands to retract.
Their obsession was not to punish a man, but to destroy an example.
But Bruno did not yield. He did not step back into the enclosure. He did not kneel. He did not “correct” his ideas to save himself.
Death: the stake at Campo de’ Fiori
On 17 February 1600, Giordano Bruno was condemned and burned alive at Campo de’ Fiori in Rome.
That death was not simply an execution. It was a declaration of power: “whoever thinks outside the enclosure burns.”
And Bruno became the opposite of what they wanted: eternal.
Legacy
Giordano Bruno remains a symbol of freedom of thought, but also something deeper: proof that intelligence and conscience can be considered more dangerous than weapons.
Bruno is not only a martyr—he is a threshold. After him, European thought can no longer pretend the world is closed.
And it can no longer pretend human beings must obey in order to live.
Bruno left a tragic and luminous certainty: you can burn a body, but you cannot burn the infinite.

This sentence, written on a board and held in my hands, is a declaration of truth.
Yahweh (יהוה) is my God, my Father.
I do not speak on behalf of religions. I speak as His direct daughter—without intermediaries, without institutions.
I call Jew, Christian, and Islam “brother” as if they were proper names—symbolic persons representing the three great monotheistic religions.
But today, these religions have lost the voice of the Father.
They bless wars, kneel before power, and let injustice rule.
And no one says a damn thing.
I do.
Because they have betrayed my Father.
And I, as His daughter, cannot remain silent.

when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

U2 - No Line On The Horizon Live in Dublin

Main story

What is the coolest thing? The photo is as it is.
6
About the current YouTube bar. I also want to tell, I want to leave.
7
About Japanese photographers. Japanese YouTube bar is Pistols.
8
The composition of the photograph is sensibility. Meet the designers in Milan. Two questions.
9
What is a good composition? What is a bad composition?
10
What is the time to point the camera? It is slow if you are looking into the viewfinder or display.
11
Family photos. I can not take pictures with others. The inside of the subject.
12
About YouTube 's photographer. Camera technology etc. Sensibility is polished by reading books.
13
About the Japanese newspaper. A picture of a good newspaper is Reuters. If you continue to look at useless photographs, it will be useless.
14
About Japanese photographers. About the exhibition.
Summary. I wrote a novel etc. What I want to tell the most.

About work production 2/2
1 Photo exhibition up to that point. Did you want to go?
2 Well, what is an exhibition that you want to visit even if you go there?
3 Challenge to exhibit one work every month before opening a solo exhibition at the Harajuku Design Festa.
4 works are materials and silhouettes. Similar to fashion.
5 Who is your favorite artist? What is it? Make it clear.
6 Creating a collage is exactly the same as taking photos. As I wrote in the interview, it is the same as writing a novel.
7 I want to show it to someone, but I do not make a piece to show it. Aim for the work you want to decorate your own room as in the photo.
8 What is copycat? Nowadays, it is suspected to be beaten. There is something called Mimesis?

9 What is Individuality? What is originality?
It is a flow of.

Nikon coolpix 8700
I defeated two of these cameras.
It was a very nice camera.
I took many photos with this camera.
Today's photo.
It was also taken with this camera.
I explained the composition in detail in the text at the time of shooting.
I have taken a lot of pictures until today.
Among them, this photo is the result of sharpening my sensitivity.
I will explain this composition in a video.
But they are all Japanese.
Is there a Japanese beside you?
Is there anyone who can understand Japanese beside you?
Please have them translate.
I leave an important story about composition.
I hope they will reach many people.

3
Fotolog

Nikon coolpix 8700
