Sentenced to drift far away now. Nothing is quite what it seems.

in every sentence and in each word

in every journey and in each step

in every day and night and in each breath

in every heart beat that you have left

I wish you peace in your inner universe for all that peace within on the outside will manifest

I wish you a very peaceful New Year. Big smile from ear to ear. Warm open heart that has no fear. Near you all those you call Dear. The occasional festive chilled beer. And mind so silent that no one can hear.

I wish you peace. I wish you Happy New Year!!

P.S. Thank you very much for all your visits, faves, comments and support. You have no idea how often your words made my day.

This was one of columns in Palmyra. There was a human sculpture right above the sentences. I believe these sentences are descriptions about the sculpture and written in two different languages.

I found information on Palmyrene alphabet as “two forms of the Palmyrene alphabet were developed: The rounded, cursive form derived from the Aramaic alphabet and later a decorative, monumental form developed from the cursive Palmyrene. Both the cursive and monumental forms commonly used orthographic ligatures.”

Homily020123-4th Week in Ordinary Time

A sentence from our first reading caught my eye this morning:

“Strive for peace with everyone,

and for that holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”

The source of our peace is found in the holiness we are constantly seeking.

We are seeking to hear that still small voice: “My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;

I know them, and they follow me.”

From this relationship with Christ, we gain the courage to do what is right! In choosing to make good choices, we reflect light and this light builds up those who are on a similar journey. This is reflected in our gathering here today. We strengthen each other.

However, not everyone appreciates the light that we carry. Our Gospel reading, gives us an uncomfortable reality-not everyone around us appreciates our way of life.

Jesus enters the synagogue, like he always does…and the questioning begins:

“Where did this man get all this?

What kind of wisdom has been given him?

What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands!

Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary,

and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon?

And are not his sisters here with us?”

And they took offense at him.

Jesus answers them with a powerful and painful truth!

“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place

and among his own kin and in his own house.”

And the painful results follow…

“So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there,

apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them.

He was amazed at their lack of faith.”

The Jesus we follow, knows the difficult path that we walk. His path lead him to the Cross.

His life’s mission continued, even though he experienced constant rejection and ridicule.

We are to do what HE did….persevere. We walk through, any given situation….focusing constantly on the voice we hear…stay with me. Follow my voice.

“My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;

I know them, and they follow me.”

It really is a death sentence. The fact that we are collectively ignoring it bewilders me to put it mildly.

Wonderful Friday and weekend to you. A special thank you to all of you wonderful women out there as Mother's Day is this Sunday. Much peace, love and happiness to each and every one of you.

This picture is portraying the vertical glaciers of the Grand Combin North Face.

The Grand Combin is a large glaciated massif in the western Pennine Alps in Switzerland, consisting of several summits, among which three are above 4.000 metres.

Here is clearly visible one of the ascent route, called Le Corridor, through the Aiguille du Croissant (4.260 m). Then, a bit more on the right, you can see the Combin de Grafeneire (4.314 m) which is the highest peak of the massif.

Shot taken at 4:46 a.m. from the moraines above the Corbassière Glacier, in the light of dawn, which allows to appreciate every detail of this permanently frozen world.

To paraphrase a sentence of Apocalipse Now "I love the colors of ice in the morning" :-))

Death sentence also for M90 (Sonny) by the Autonomous Province of Trento (PAT). There is no peace for the bears. The Trentino people accepted their reintroduction, only to then fail to implement the appropriate measures for coexistence, and now they want to exterminate them again. Call to the square in Trento on Saturday 10 February for all animal rights activists.

Bears are exterminated as they were exterminated in the 19th century. Human beings have made no progress in their relationship with animals. The Earth is ours, ours alone: this is the common feeling.

This beautiful coyote had to be put down due to being fed and becoming a nuisance. While visiting National and State parks please understand that if you feed a critter, you typically have offered it a death sentence. My heart breaks for the loss of innocent lives. Please know that animals and nature contribute to everyone’s well being. We are all part of a greater circle than we may be aware.😢. A lot of our best memories involve family, animals and amazing views.

The sentence "Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose" was written by Gertrude Stein as part of the 1913 poem "Sacred Emily", which appeared in the 1922 book Geography and Plays.

In that poem, the first "Rose" is the name of a person. Stein later used variations on the sentence in other writings, and the shortened form "A rose is a rose is a rose" is among her most famous quotations, often interpreted as meaning "things are what they are", a statement of the law of identity, "A is A."

Stein once remarked, "Now listen! I'm no fool. I know that in daily life we don't go around saying 'is a ... is a ... is a ...' Yes, I'm no fool; but I think that in that line the rose is red for the first time in English poetry for a hundred years." (Four in America). (Source: Wikipedia).

UNA ROSA ES UNA ROSA ES UNA ROSA... (2024)

No soy tonta. Sé que en la vida diaria no andamos por ahí diciendo 'es una... es una... es una...' Sí, no soy tonta; pero creo que en ese verso la rosa es roja por primera vez en la poesía inglesa en cien años". (Cuatro en América). (Fuente: Wikipedia).

"Prisoners of Age" is photographer Ron Levine's groundbreaking work with geriatric convicts. It is a series of photographs and interviews with elderly inmates - sentenced for life - conducted in prisons both in the United States and Canada since 1996.

His images are disturbing and affecting, macabre and poignant, straddling the thin line between retribution and redemption.

Today I Love You. A sentence excelling at splendid simplicity. A magical sentence, which seems to come from a beautiful dream you don’t yet want to wake up from. But also a sentence that evokes questions. What about tomorrow? Next year? Will you still love me then? Is this love eternal, or will it slip away in time and do we have to content ourselves with the moment? Installation in Amsterdam by Massimo Uberti. THE SENTENCE

When it realized that that marriage Opus Dei was not for what she was waiting, it went out to the avenues and undressed the clothes, wrapped in shouts and blows of breasts, begging the love of this husband that it loved to another fort and virile.

The sentence on the sign above the entrance to the bridge and underneath its name reads: "25 Dollars Fine for Driving on this Bridge Faster than a Walk."

This c. 1855 covered bridge in Hoosick, New York is still in use.

"The sentence" is part of my series "Parallels" and was shot in Sälen, Sweden. We were there on a skiing holiday with my family, but being me I just couldn't let this breathtaking landscape be out there without being photographed.

The cold got me thinking about for how little time you would actually survive out there without any cover or extra warmth. And this story came to me about an entity, light as snow but with a deadly darkness, executing a sentence leading to certain death... Read more...
