DSC_6992_edited-1: Can you spot the sensor dust? I successfully cleaned the sensor this morning and got rid of it. Thought you might like to see what it looks like.

The tape sensor PCB with the 2 optical tape hole sensors and the 2 microswitches. The thick-film hybrid circuit that processes the signals from the former has been folded over, it normally fits behind the PCB. Below the PCB are the write-protect actuator link and the sensor housing.

My 400D is a bit over a year old now with around 25000 actuations (bought new). Never cleaned the sensor. Attempted to clean it today but was not very successful. Need better tools I think.

Took this shot before cleaning sensor. Been afraid to clean the sensor for a long time. Did a test drop on a lens and when the solution evaporated it left a filty grime on it. Anyway, I couldn't take it anymore and will try to clean it myself. Going to use sensor swabs and american recorder sensor cleaning solution.

Okay, so it was really a 5 second shot. One-second exposure really didn't do the concept justice. Please forgive and overlook the dirty sensor - I'm trying to find someone locally to clean my baby - don't like packing him up and shipping him off :-(
My new sensor for the Dexcom machine. It is twice as big as the infusion site for the pump and I do hope to get a picture of both things on my abdomen. I will have to keep them more than 5 inches apart though, and I am pretty particular about exactly where I am going to shove the needle in...so maybe a picture, maybe not. The Dex seems to work pretty well though, very interesting!
Sensors are mounted on 2 inch square blocks of wood. The electronic bit on the side is the distance adapter, which interfaces between the actual sensor and the Phidgets interface board. See pingplatform.wordpress.com for more info.
Your monitor isn't dirty. Those flecks are on my D70's sensor. Verified with multiple lenses. Nikon Capture does an impressive job of removing these marks based on a dust off reference photo but I'd rather clean the sensor.
