Brown Hare, Norfolk.

Head on hare as it came running towards me in a deep furrow at the top of an undulating field. If you open the image up you will the black bits are flying insects and not dust on my sensor ;)

Shot with a Sigma Art 18-35mm F 1.8 zoom lens, F 5.6 @28mm, on a Nikon F4 film SLR.

This zoom lens was developed for digital APS-C sensors but in the 28-35mm covers full frame as well.

At 35mm it has a bit too much of distortion but it's still usable.

At 28mm it's optimal.

Sharpness is extremely high, in the same league of the best full frame primes.

Lack of digital sensor glass is not a problem even wide open, probably thanks to a very large nodal point to sensor distance.

Fuji Velvia 100 slide film can really deliver, if exposed properly.

This particular film was developed 2 years after exposure but still retained very good qualities.

Scanned with a macro setup:

- Rodenstock APO Rodagon 74mm F 4 repro lens @F6.7;

- 1.5:1 magnification ratio;

Equivalent 6000dpi optical resolution.

Resized to 24Mpxls.

Colors and contrast as shot, no PP.

tiger cowry - Explored June 26, 2015

Not real great pictures, but I wanted to get it done.

I finally decided to upload some of the shots I have been taking with the Ricoh GR IV... I started playing with this one and I guess you could say it's the first time I really processed the files. It held up well I think.

I remember it was freezing out. It was nice to be able to have my camera and my hand in the coat pocket at the same time.

For those smooth, dust-spot-free skies, keep those sensors clean kids!

Testing out an infrared sensor I picked off of the auction site, works pretty good. I put a 3.5 mm plug on it and hooked it to the camera axe. Model number is E18-D50NK.

Selasphorus rufus

The Agfamatic 200 Sensor uses 126 cartridge film introduced by Agfa in 1972. The exposure is controlled using four "weather" icons above the lens barrel, the shutter release button is bright orange/red and has a solid "click" when pushed.

The first thing to say is that each electronic sensor has a protective filter over it, so we are not actually touching the electronics. That would be a disaster. Most people send the camera off for a service and a clean and that's a very good idea. After all this is an expensive investment and we want to make sure our camera works as well as possible for as long as it can.

But, it is quite easy to clean your sensor at home. All you need is a kit (like the one I've shown). This includes sealed sterile swabs and a little cleaning fluid (they are essential - do not try to clean your sensor with a cloth where you can scratch the dust into the sensor filter). There are also many videos on YouTube showing you how to use these dust cleaning swabs, but provided you get the right size for your camera (mine is full frame) a simple swipe will suffice.

For a DSLR you obviously need to lock your mirror up before the clean, and then lower it immediately afterwards. Then with the other side of the swab give your mirror a quick wipe as well. Do not apply too much pressure. After all, these are only tiny dust particles - you should not have any dirt.

My Leica D-Lux 7 which I used to take these pictures has a fixed lens, so it will never need its micro-four-thirds sensor cleaned.

Amazing. I finally cleaned my sensor and I'm overjoyed with the clean skies! This is pretty much right out of the camera, no cloning out dirt spots. Taken in Felicity, CA, just this side of the Arizona boarder.

I spent most of the day yesterday shooting at Niagara Falls. Started an hour before sunrise. Just me and one intrepid Japenese tourist were at the Horseshoe Falls. In the early morning cold the mist from the falls turned into rain. I had to find a spot far enough upwind to stay dry. Took some shots as the sun rose and then left. From this angle you can see a vortex of sorts created by the enormous volume of water churning below the falls.

This is an HDR black and white image. I'm not big on HDR and so use it infrequently, when it is appropriate. I feel it is the only thing that would do justice to the majesty of this natural wonder. A little additional magic in PS5 and viola. BTW, what looks like a dirty sensor is really droplets of water on the AR filter.

Slightly sensored for social media :-)

Not perfect, but I think it's at least better than putting on a star or white paint...

Hope to get book and ebook of Aijule out this weekend.

Alas I have sensor dust -- normally easily remedied in lightroom, except that doesn't work when there are star trails...
