A pano from Seljalandsfoss, Iceland

Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. It is very picturesque and therefore its photo can be found in many books and calendars. It was a waypoint during the first leg of The Amazing Race 6.

Seljalandsfoss is situated in between Selfoss and Skógafoss at the road crossing of Route 1 (the Ring Road) with the track going into Þórsmörk.

This waterfall of the river Seljalandsá drops 60 metres (200 ft) over the cliffs of the former coastline. It is possible to go behind the waterfall.

Seljalandsfoss is a spectacular waterfall in the south of Iceland. The water drops 60m (200ft) from the the top of the cliff and it's possible to walk behind the falls which is where I took this photo from looking back toward the coastal plain and the setting sun.

I used a circular B+W 6 stop neutral density filter to get a slow shutter speed (1.6 seconds) so I could slightly blur the water but it was almost impossible to keep the lens free of water droplets as the falls created a fine mist of water that filled the air - by the time I'd finished both me and the camera were dripping wet.

Vattenfallet Seljalandsfoss är inte det största och långt ifrån enda på Island. Men man kan gå in bakom det, och komma ut på andra sidan. Tufft nog för mig. || Seljalandsfoss is not the biggest, and far from the only, waterfall in Iceland. But you can walk in behind it, and come out on the other side. Cool enough for me.

Seljalandsfoss sits on the southern coast of Iceland and dips more than 200 feet over a cliff's edge that once was Iceland's coastline. A mixture of mist from the falls and light from the endless Arctic sun fuel a bountiful flower bloom across the green meadows and hills. Iceland is known for it's landscape and waterfalls, the Seljalandsfoss is regarded as one of the best and most picturesque falls the country has to offer.

Today is day 4, time flies. We went along the South coast today. Here is one of the many delights, Seljalandsfoss. Look for the people walking up to the falls for scale.

When I was a child and my parents told me tales before sleeping, the treasure of the elves was often hidden behind a majestic waterfall. Well, if there's really an elve's treasure, this must be the place where it's buried!

A second volcano picture from earlier that night (see previous upload). We could taste the dust on our lips and in our throats. It was awesome!

This photograph is one from my trip to Iceland in Feburary this year. As we traveled from Vik to Fludir we stopped off at a couple of the most visited waterfalls on the island including this one, Seljalandsfoss.

The sun was setting as we arrived but this meant there weren't many tourists at it so I didn't have to wait too long to get a shot with no one in it.

There was little colour in the sky from the sunset but it wasn't long before the moon appeared over the crest of the falls and although it is small, stands out nicely in the shot.

This is a beautiful waterfall called Seljalandsfoss. We found on our first night driving around icland. This was pretty much the first good waterfall i have ever seen. Well froat least an hour or so untill are next stop. I'll upload that soon.

Enjoy this night long exposure image of Seljalandsfoss taken around 4am. I will never forget this trip. Bloody outstanding for the 4 full days we were there. :-)

Cascata Seljalandsfoss

Seljalandsfoss waterfall

The Seljalandsá River falls about 60m from what was once an ocean cliff (now several kilometers away) and which is now the border between the Highlands and the Lowlands.

Among the peculiarities that make Seljalandsfoss one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland, that of being able to easily pass behind it, thus being able to observe the waterfall from an opposite perspective.

June 27, 2016: Seljalandsfoss, Iceland

Iceland, 23rd February 2017. Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim and expired Fuji NPZ 800 Pro film.

A shot of the famous Seljalandsfoss. It was a lot more touristy than it seems on social media. Taking this picture took more than a bit of patience and jockeying — and I still had to airbrush out selfie-taking tourists.

This High Dynamic Range image was tone-mapped from five hand-held bracketed photographs with Photomatix, processed with Color Efex, then touched up in Affinity Photo and Aperture.

I have just returned from an adventure to a far-off land that I have dreamt about visiting ever since I was a child – ICELAND!!

Truly, I have wanted to visit long before the island was made famous by the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010, and a lot longer before it became trendy on the Gram.

It was always number one or two on my bucket list (depending on my mood – The Faroe’s being its competitor) and to be honest I am still pinching myself now that I have had the opportunity to visit and explore and photograph this amazing land. It did not disappoint.

Now I am home I find myself with a slight dilemma. What photo’s do I attack first and how do I edit them so that they truly reflect the magnificence and magnitude of the land I experienced. How do I even start to choose which images I like?

I know as time goes by it will become easier to decide, but for now I am starting with this image as I think it portrays some of the astounding landscapes I experienced.

Day one in Iceland.

Four hours sitting in the airport waiting on what was a botched rental car handoff, followed by another three and a half hours crisscrossing Reykjavik to amend the previously mentioned rental snafu wasn’t exactly the best way to start the day. But this, however, was probably the best way to end the day.

We arrived at Seljalandsfoss on the South coast of Iceland by late afternoon and took a quick cat nap to help with the jet lag. Waking back up at nearly 9pm, I figured we had missed the sunset, but the timing was just right. A short hike leads up the mountainside and around behind the waterfall, where one can sit and watch the sun set on the North Atlantic through the falling water.
