Seljalandsfoss is one of Icelands most beautiful waterfalls. The fact that you can walk behind it makes it special.

My take of the classic waterfall just off route 1. Not suprised I shifted over the other side of the road to capture this as you were literally shoulder lifted around by tourists nearer to the fall, but I liked the look of this snaking stream anyway and thought I'd give the usual behind fall shot a miss.

Video of the trip is on youtube(well, bits of it anyway) www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzA51HajHTQ

Another famous waterfall of Iceland. Spot the tourists for scale.

Seljalandfoss of Seljalandsá, South Iceland.

Seljalandsfoss is situated between Selfoss and Skógafoss, where Route 1 (the Ring Road) meets the track going to Þórsmörk.

We had just arrived and it started to rain, combined with the wind and spray from the waterfall, the conditions for photography were tricky. When I say tricky, what I really mean is f'ing terrible. I had to set the camera to manual, including focus, quickly compose the shot and take it before spray/wind etc hit the lens. It was at this point in the holiday I started to feel really pissed off and annoyed with the weather!

The first stop on the South Coast tour from Reykjavik stops here at Seljalandsfoss. A pretty unique waterfall being able to walk around behind the falls.

This landmark is typically photographed from behind, because this is the nice feature of this waterfall. I also did that. But I wanted to explore more angles, and this is the one I liked. I hope you do too. I decided not to clon out the people in the photo to give an idea of the size of this waterfall.

Used a Noveflex adapter to attach a Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar Aspherical II 15mm f/4.5 Lens for Leica M Cameras into my Sony A7R. Corrected the magenta cast with the LCC functionality of Capture One

on our first day we went to the south coast and this was our first stop. the waterfall you can walk behind - seljalandsfoss

A close up of one of Iceland's prettiest waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss in the south of Iceland. Through the spray you can see behind the falls where there's a footpath. Taken with a 200mm prime.

Waterfall Seljalandsfoss in South-Iceland. It is one of the most famous Icelandic waterfalls and also one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland (ca. 60 m). It is possible to walk behind the waterfall.

Went on a two day trip criss crossing the south of Iceland this past weekend. It wasn't very productive photography wise and I didn't get that many keepers. But the company was good and the trip was a whole lot of fun and one decent frame makes it all totally worth it!

This waterfall is in south Iceland and can easily be seen from the main road that stretches around the country. It's a big tourist attraction and looks just as good during the winter as it does in the summertime and there aren't as many tourists wandering into your images.

One of the more famous waterfalls in Iceland, Seljalandsfoss is breathtaking. That ledge that the water falls off is where the coastline used to be. Today, that coastline is almost 8km away. When it's not winter, you actually get to walk behind this waterfall which gives you a really unique view. Alas, that path is closed when it ices over so we didn't have the privilege.

This was taken more than 18 months ago and I've only just managed to figure out how to process it to my liking. I'm quite happy with the result, I hope you like it too. Posting this seems pretty apt today because tomorrow we fly to the Jiuzhaigou Valley nature reserve in China, which is known for its many multi-level waterfalls. Hopefully I come away with some good images.

Week's almost over now, have a good one all!

PS: I've only just noticed that Flickr has introduced some banding in the dark water at the bottom that isn't in the original file. So unusual, and frustrating!
