I see her near the Bandra Reclamation signal, I beckon her, she knows I will photograph her, but she also thinks I might give her some money as I raise my camera she runs..into the moving traffic.
She lives in the shanties not far by.
Perhaps she goes to the Municipal free school in the morning and than comes here to add to the family kitty...
This is nothing unusual, here in Mumbai, there are more pathetic cases than this..for me as a poet she was like a butterfly flitting from one car to the next, in great hurry..
I was on my way to shoot the Sandal of Fakhruddin Shah Baba ..

3rd collection created by our atelier at Montmartre, Paris 18e arr.
inspired by "Oyaji"-this japanese word can mean a man roams in the street with the typical big HARAMAKI belt, "Oyaji" misses elegance but caracter sympathy, just like a popular man.
With this theme i wanted to recreate sunny souvenirs my grandpa left me, and i tried to combinate the details and the silhouettes in a lovely way: big HARAMAKI (high waisted) pants, SUTETEKO (loose silhouette) jeans, low waist belt Trench coat, "cargo" jacket etc...
in fact this is my last collaboration with Mr.OTSUKA, after this collection i took a very long vacation^^; out of creating a entire collection but some pieces.

“I know the soul of a good man has got to be free when you stand, stand for what you believe”
Stand: Poison, Native Tongue
Not being known as a very deep lyricist, I will say that this was one of Bret Michaels’ finest moments writing lyrics. I figure if he can work for Donald Trump, he deserves at least that amount of respect.
This was the first single that they released after CC Deville exited the band. I was excited at the possibility with Ritchie Kotzen stepping in, but he didn’t last long either. This song though, really struck at some soul strings and has popped up off and on through my life.
There really are not many times where I have had to make a principled stand for what I believe- to really take a stand for myself and how I am being treated. It is a hard thing to do when the world is going against your way so it seems. But what I have found is that when you do take stands for yourself, even if the world throws you away- you land in a better place than where you were.
This is a hard thing for anyone to do, but when you do it- you learn and grow from it. I love the line that says when you repress yourself you seal your fate… how very true. I have done that enough in my life, and I don’t need to do it anymore. This song always reminds me to have confidence in what I believe, and draw a line and take that firm stand!
*** Artist Notes ***
It may be very “Alamo” to draw a line in the sand- but that’s how I always saw this song. To draw a line and go no further beyond that.
Lyrics:
We all carry the cross and speak what we're taught
Lies and money become the white man's god
We've burned all our bridges one too many times
The time has come now to draw the line
You know you've got to
Stand, stand, stand for what you believe
You know you've got to
Stand, stand, stand for what you believe
Ohh, You got to...Stand for what you believe
Alright, alright
Oooh You got to listen now...
Express yourself in the face of change
Repress yourself, you surely seal your fate
You got to look inside, the answer lies in wait
Resurrect before it's too late
Somebody rescue me, come down and rescue me
I know the soul of a good man has got to be free
When you stand, stand for what you believe
Somebody rescue me, come down and rescue me
I know the soul of a good man has got to be free
When you stand, stand for what you believe

I am writing this last post before I rush to work while I shoot her and the mother son duo ..what is Marziya thinking , mind you she thinks like a street photographer and she knows she is not the subject , she is the sutradhar of my story of life and pain.
She is what binds my camera through her vision to a future I will never know , I wanted to leave this post sans text but I am adding it to empty the reservoir off my half empty angst my pictorial pathos.
Luckily this area is our home base but normally we both create crowds and Marziya can shoot with my camera on the streets too though I am scared she might let it go but she holds it with dear life..
And I dedicate this post to my new Facebook friend Mr Pratap Sehgal a giant of a multi faceted literary man.. My best wishes to him and his guidance on a path of words I have undertaken .
Update
These are old posts that I am bringing forward as I post them as links on Google+ I am not on Facebook anymore ..I had over 2500 friends when I left Facebook in September I deactivated my account and those of my grand daughters too .. we are on Google+ simply because it is a serious platform , no pokes no breaching walls of hate , and I am overwhelmed by those GooglePlussers who have added me recently I thank them may their tribe increase .. .your adding me is adding my street world of pain of incongruity and mortality..
I shoot every second of my own death as I live it on this Planet of Apes ..sweet and sour grapes .
.a scarred debauched raped sodomized landscape .. false values on the soul of our consciousness hung as drapes ..and waiting for the Great Escape ..the flesh was willing the soul in bad shape ..
Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old.
-Emerson

Using a very soft wool, a bit empty simple box silhouette coat.
Ease, Soft & Light!
Distinctive design of the opend front, and three-quarter sleeves, and large the lapel, raglan sleeves but with narrow shoulders, deep pockets easy to use... the "mobility" and "feminity" are essential of the design.
Adjust a belt to the waist makes a cool atmosphere.
Or you can also coordinate it with some lather gloves ,or the sober color's scarf or muffler etc will be lovely together.

I shot this a long time back, most beggar children irrespective of their caste color or creed are fascinated by the camera , it is as though they give you access to enter their souls and if possible steal it too.
Her mother must have been around and I have myself come a long way since I shot this picture , the milk was given to her by the Nagori Muslim milkshop next to my old workplace ..a workplace that was a stopping place for beggars , naga sadhus , hijras and urchins from Turner Road.
I was generous too , gave them money , took their pictures and they would enter my workplace too see my old camera collection , all displayed instead of textiles and later sold for a measly sum when bad times came ..
The Naga Sadhus strangely came to see me before going on a pilgrimage and to bum me for beads and bangles ..some cheap stuff that I kept to use in film work.
I shot a lot including the serial train blast at Bandra Mahim Matunga .. and came and posted the same from my workplace in the wee hours before the news could hit the newspapers.
There was much adventure , zest and I was hooked to my camera my visits every Friday to Chor Bazar and Kamatipura flea markets .
I shifted from here to two other places and as I was hit by more badtimes misfortunes , I began shooting less .
And now it is negligible in a way I made my wife happy she would always say what do you get by shooting all this and shooting the same thing every time ..I had no answer but photography soon metamorphosed into blogs ..personal rant if you may need to call it ,,
From Buzznet to Fotothing Blogspot Webshots Xanga Wordpress I moved my blogs till I finally settled for Flickr 10 June 2007 ..and the gift of pro kept my membership alive thanks to my good foreigner friends like Glenn and Jack Crawford .
The discontinuation of the Gift of Pro was a sad thing I sent a message to Ms Marissa Mayer I got no response ,,, and I have taken the New Flickr in my stride.
I have in the past tried out Ipernity and other blogging sites I prefer Flickr all my blogs originate at Flickr and I would cross blog it to Blogspt but that too was deprecated as Flickr puts it , so I have to manually post my stuff from Flickr to Blogspot.
I deleted all my Word Press blogs .. Word Press is not what it was when it started out..
So now I cross blog in 140 words to Twitter or Tumblr and pimp my blogs on Google+
I dont use Facebook.
So back to beggars , shooting them is a catharsis for the soul getting depleted of pain and the poetry of Life .
