"There are some who will only be able to comprehend you on the surface and be completely unable to dive in the depth you have to offer. There are some who will be fascinated by the oceans within you, and be unable to swim in the waves you give off. Do not settle for mediocrity." - words by Billy Chapata (poet)

This year has been a non-stop adventure. It is amazing how much can change in a single year. I didn't think last year could be topped, but I was wrong. I have met a lot of amazing people who have marked my life with lasting memories.

When I started to set up for this photo I started thinking about a certain phrase of lyrics:

"And I will still be here, stargazing

I'll still look up, look up

Look up for love

Stars don't disappear, they keep blazing

Even when the night is over

That's how I find the light"

Songwriters: Jamie Hartman / Justin Stein / Kyrre Gorvell-Dahll / Stuart Crichton

I'm taking this photograph from the State Parks open trail, that goes around to the front of the mountain side cliff, that faces the ocean.

I think this quarantine is bringing out of us a completely unexpected side. For some, the slow down might be much needed and for some, this entire situation might be hell on Earth.

This past week has given me a lot of time to think and breath (which I am so grateful for). I already tend to retreat to my home a lot, so being home all day every day isn’t all that unusual for me. What is utterly weird is not being able to go to the gym and see my friends and students. I struggled with that a lot for the first part of my quarantine. Now, I have come to terms with it being our new normal for a few weeks. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have ideas for bringing fitness to them (as soon as I get my spin bike delivered!). I do really miss teaching Cycle but the break has been welcomed. I am working on catching up with photoshoots (some are three years old!), spending more time with hubby, spending more time with my fur babies, journaling more on what I want to do with my life moving forward and Skyping more with my parents :) For some, this break probably has been hell. We’re in this situation together across the globe. To those who have lost someone to COVID-19 or have been directly affected by the virus, I am sending you so much love. I have no idea what you are personally going through, but know that at least one person is thinking about you in this moment.

How is COVID-19 impacting your life?

I’m always fascinated with the stream of Consciousness that happens during these ArtQuests. Images shift, sometimes disappear making room for new ideas to arise, nothing is fixed, it is a dance… an expansion with new insights… It started with the second image… a memory of a movie scene flashes…

In the true story movie “Patch Adams”, Robin Williams character finds himself in a psychiatric ward during an existential crisis. His life is turned around when a fellow patient, once known to be a genius tells him to hold up his hand and tell him how many fingers he sees. Ater many attempts, Patch finally understands that the answer is not always in what you see before you but in what is possible to be seen before you. Patch Adams goes on to revolutionalize medical care for thousands of people by seeing in this way. I was reflecting on this while sketching the moving hand in my notebook. Out of one hand became two…

We live in such a beautiful world, such magnificent wonders and yet there is so much isolation and disconnection, so much pain and confusion, lack of fulfillment…

Another world appears and now thought reaches between worlds…through the power of observation…Who is the Observer? Where does one world begin and the other end?

“Slaves of the Information Age”… “Perception, organized, identified”… separated from the actual experiences by windows… Hands extend holding a fragile butterfly …a breakthrough…like seeing a new number of fingers… wings…

The inner theater appears…the birthing, the mountaintop moments, the song arising from the unknown, no walls …there is a breakthrough …breaking away from the masses…a recognition… delight…

#6

The realization of the glorious inner life as a part of the outer life… a place that vibrates with the living direct experience…that is the breakaway…the reintegration of the opulent emotional well of Being…I Am everything and every thing is I… It is beyond the realm of the mind … Life pulsates the reminder again and again…
