My god, more sega master system games!

two of my favourite games for the Sega Master System

This remains one of my favorite games to this day - even though it was released in 1988 for the Sega Master System. You only need to play it for a few seconds to realize it's a standout among titles. The controls were smooth and responsive, the artwork unique, the music haunting and somber, and the story engaging. It blows away so many other games of the era - the choppy, rushed arcade ports and half-baked adventure games. It's a classic example of a game that slipped through the cracks due to being released alongside flashy, popular games of the time. When most people look back on the SMS, they think of home versions of Golden Axe, Shinobi and Afterburner, but this game outshines them all, and ranks right up there with Phantasy Star, Zillion, Ys: The Vanished Omens, and Alex Kidd.

I recently managed to add this to my Sega Master System library and it's one I'd wanted for awhile; so it's exciting for me to nab something that's been my wishlist for years. This is a late release SMS game as you can tell by the blue cartridge label, but I have been pretty patient and got it without paying some ludicrous amount. I'm looking forward to getting more time to work through it, but I really can't get over the fact that this cover looks so much like the box art for Shinobi on the Sega Mark III though...
