A macro shot of an acorn reveals intricate textures,
from the smooth, glossy nut to the rugged, textured cap, capturing every ridge and detail with stunning clarity !!
I am trying out a vintage 500mm f8 mirror lens. These lenses don't have a great reputation for image quality, but I am really enjoying it as an art lens. Like in this example.
Here two of the often-mentioned mirror lens drawbacks are features: the parts of the bokeh that are busy emphasize the tubular nature of the grass stems. The parts that exhibit donut bokeh suggest seeds.
The general effect is impressionistic or even abstract impressionist. Not trying to copy Seurat, Monet or de Kooning, but to do something that when it works seems to have the power to evoke them a little while doing something distinctly photographic.
Not trying to say this image is in such an elite category, but I think it does at least suggest the possibilities.
In short, I'm having a lot of fun with it.

22nd August 2020:
The weather wasn't as good today and I hadn't got any ideas of what to take for today. so I tried another still life. Which might have looked better had the sun made an appearance - but it didn't!

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
Seed pods of a variety of Allamanda cathartica (Schottii), a yellow flowering creeper from my sub-tropical Gold Coast garden. The green seed pods are soft but gradually brown and harden. The spikes are needle sharp, believe me!

One tiny everlasting seed about to blow away on a breeze. That one seed is capable of growing into a plant 18” high with lots of flowers. Mind boggling !
That's a result of an experiment with a 31mm macro extension ring. It's not that good. 21mm was great but 31mm sucks a bit. I guess I was at this point before, I just forgot what the problem was.
Ik houd ervan zaden te verzamelen om in de tuin te strooien en zien wat er opkomt. Dit zijn zaden van zuring en van een schermbloemige.
I like to collect seeds to scatter in the garden and see what comes up. These are sorrel seeds and umbellifer seeds. So this was my choice for the challenge: collection.
The seeds are about 1 and 3 mm, so the total picture is 4 cm.
Thanks for taking time to comment and fave my work. I really appreciate it.
Seed pods of poppies. I developed this in Adobe Lightroom and applied a preset subject concerts CT 05. One of the new adaptive presets from Adobe.
