An old farmers seed machine which has seen better days. Taken using an old Minolta MC 58mm f/1.4 and testing out how sharp the lens is wide open.

Here is another one of my squirrel friends at Monrepos. It was the first time I tried sunflower seeds for the squirrels because I thought they would be great for the birds too and I was quite amazed that the squirrels devoured the sunflower seeds, especially when I had just arrived and they were really very hungry. Later they took the usual hazelnuts and walnuts too.

They have a sweet, mild liquorice-like flavour that can lend an earthy, sweet taste to dishes. They pair especially well with seafood and pork dishes. A little goes a long way.

Macro Mondays: Seeds
I've always been amazed at how something so small can grow to become some of the largest living things on the planet...really pretty amazing.
Despite some discouraging news in 2016, I'm still hopeful that many small positive seeds have been planted here and there which will flourish in 2017. I know that there are a huge number of awesome people out there who are working hard to make good things happen...they just don't tend to make the news.
