The 343rd Training Squadron held the 15th Annual Fallen Defender Memorial Ruck March on Nov. 4, 2022, at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis, Texas. The purpose of the event is to honor all Security Forces members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. More than 30 alumni and spouses from the 366th Security Police Squadron K9 visited Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, May 5, for what would be their final reunion tour. The former 366 SPS K9 handlers had served together in Da Nang, Vietnam, many having met their spouses prior to their service there. Colorado National Guard members provide roving security patrols, to assist with the enforcement of road closures July 4, 2018, through Huerfano County, in support of the sheriff, to safeguard travelers and to protect the homes in the evacuated areas. The team arrived and began operations July 2. Other teams support traffic control points through the evacuated communities.

 

The CONG has supported the Spring Fire since July 1, 2018, providing capabilities to include: security personnel for traffic control points and roving patrols; two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crews and aircraft each equipped with aerial water buckets; geological information system operators; as well as, refueling crews with Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical refueling trucks and firefighters with HEMTT firefighting vehicles.

  

The CONG has been providing an aviation search and rescue standby capability in support of the Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center since July 1. The High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site facility in Gypsum, Colorado, is supporting the mission which is rapid response to aviation search and rescue missions, primarily for firefighter safety, in support of multiple wildfire responses throughout Colorado.

  

On order of the Governor, the standing Joint Task Force - Centennial commands and integrates CONG forces to support civil authorities in assisting Colorado, or supported states, during times of crisis and disaster, to save lives, prevent suffering, and mitigate great property damage.

Mission

 

Enables the Army to immediately respond to urgent operational requirements anywhere in the world using rapidly deployable, agile, and strategically responsive combat support vehicles.

Description

 

As the primary combat and combat support platform of the Stryker Brigade Combat Team, the Stryker Family of Vehicles fulfills an immediate requirement for a strategically deployable (C-130) brigade capable of rapid movement anywhere on the globe in a combat-ready configuration. The Stryker Family of Vehicles is built on a common chassis, each with a different mission equipment package. There are 10 variants, including the Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV), the Mobile Gun System (MGS), the Reconnaissance Vehicle (RV), the Mortar Carrier (MC), the Commander’s Vehicle (CV), the Fire Support Vehicle (FSV), the Engineer Squad Vehicle (ESV), the Medical Evacuation Vehicle (MEV), the Anti-tank Guided Missile (ATGM) Vehicle, and the Nuclear Biological Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBC RV). Additionally, there are Double V-Hull (DVH) variants, for the following: ICV, CV, MEV, MC, ATGM, FSV, and ESV.

An Afghan and coalition force provides security outside the home of a senior Taliban leader in Nahr-e Saraj District, Helmand province, Afghanistan, April 18, 2013. The senior leader and four other insurgents were detained and charged with a wide range of Taliban activity in southern Afghanistan. The leader controlled a cell of fighters responsible for a number of attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in Helmand and Kandahar provinces. He also oversaw weapons facilitation in the area, trained suicide bombers in operations, is a known improvised explosive device expert, and passed instructions and orders from senior Taliban officials to front-line fighters. The security force also seized two assault rifles, four magazines, and 60 pounds of opium.
