“Para sa Baji” (For the Women)! The residents of Del Carmen, Siargao Island in the Philippines reconstruct their women’s center, which was previously devastated by Super Typhoon Odette (International Name Rai) in 2021. Once redeveloped, the new women’s center will serve as agriculture and livelihood training and disaster response hub for the women. Through its Energy Secure Philippines Activity, USAID will install sustainable initiatives such as renewable energy and climate-resilient technologies to power up the establishment. Targeted to empower the women of Del Carmen as catalysts for innovations on energy security and resilience, the women-led training laboratory is soon to be re-launched this year.
