A recent trip to Sebastian State Park. Although the inlet entrance was somewhat calm. Taking a walk into the park produced some activity.

This storm put on the most amazing lightning display - it was firing bolts and heat lightning about a second apart continuously for hours on end.

it was kind of me and hillaree's theme for the whole weekend, so expect to see 436 more jumping pictures : )

Anyway, as I was saying, I finally put the camera away and started to look around on the banks of the inlet for shells. I know that sounds infantile, but I have this idea of framing a few drawings of mine in shell frames -with all of the shells being local, Indian River shells, with drawings of old Brevard History-type subjects. And these wouldn't be cheap-cheap hotglue and sand shell frames - these would be solid, small shell, elaborately designed shell frames in the tradition of the old carribean souveniers of the nineteenth-century. So I started to look.

The clock was getting closer to midnight and more fisherman started to arrive at the bank of the inlet. One walked right across where I was searching, crushing the shells as he went along. That was irritating, but so also were the people who walked by and pointed and whispered or giggled.

Come on! Hasn't anyone ever seen anyone collect sea shells? Yeah, sure, they might not see a teenager doing it, but at the same time, people need maintain their rules of etiquette. Just like our mothers told us when we were little: it isn't polite to stare at midgets, people in wheelchairs, and amputees, it isn't polite to point and giggle at some geek sifting through the debris along the inlet's shore.

I suppose it did look odd. But I did get some great finds last night.
