Sebastian Inlet, Florida.
I think the fish is a mullet - if anyone can confirm or correct I'd appreciate it. :-)
Come fall, here in Central Florida the Ospreys gather at the inlets to gorge on migrating mullet and other fish. I think, but not sure, that this poor victim is a species of menhaden.
I was under this seagrape tree getting away from the harsh sun when I spotted this bird on top of the tree. This bird's plumage will turn blue-gray when mature.
Forgot to adjust the ISO. I was shooting the evening before.
Sebastian Inlet, Florida.
a bit surreal, or hyper-real, set among the rocks, beneath the bridge, beside the water, atop a suitcase, on roller wheels, waiting to be called into action, to be invested, included in a photo shoot, out of frame, just over there. i happened by, happened to notice the photographer, the model, happened upon this dressing room, this wardrobe in the open air, people above, oblivious, into their own things, their own vocations, their own thoughts, distractions, conversations, musings.
i wandered by, and noticed there is something missing here, something missing.

This osprey leaves the water with a small fish after a long battle with the wind and waves. It hardly seems a fair return for the energy spent in catching it.
The view from the old CrabHouse has held my rapt attention for decades. I took a few more pix before moving to a new location about a mile away.
Captured amidst the vibrant setting of Sebastian Inlet, Florida, this photograph encapsulates a riveting moment in avian interaction. Witness the graceful pursuit of a Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) as it eagerly chases an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) grasping a freshly caught fish. The pelican's determined flight, juxtaposed against the osprey's swift escape, creates a dynamic narrative of predator and prey in the wild.
From a photographer's perspective, this shot embodies the essence of wildlife photography: patience, anticipation, and the pursuit of fleeting moments. The composition highlights the intricate dance of light and shadow, with the shimmering waters of Sebastian Inlet providing a picturesque backdrop. By employing rapid shutter speed and precise framing, I aimed to freeze this exhilarating chase, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the raw beauty and drama of nature.

Being back on the river after many miles of highways restores me. Just to awaken to what the day brings - Sometimes spectacular, sometimes not, but always new. It speaks to me in ways I cannot express in words, which is probably why I love just standing there looking.
The wind had died down overnight. It's a calm and quiet morning on the river. I'm not sure why, but thanks to everyone who commented and mentioned Explore - It doesn't show up on my groups, maybe it's a glitch. Much appreciated either way.
