I was wandering around Seattle Center with my daughter and as we were near the fountain leaving there was a rainbow! I did the best I could with no polarizer (lost) and no tripod...

Seattle waterfront and the Seattle Great Wheel, the highest ferries wheel on the West Coast of the US (at 175 ft tall), at Pier 57, as seen from an approaching ferry from Bremerton
From Bhy Kracke Park. Inspired by a similar shot by Tosin Arasi at TIA International Photography. Tosin did a better job on this one, but this is what I got.
...but not tonight.
Been rainy this week. Supposed to be sunny this weekend. Maybe there will be time for pictures tomorrow.

Seattle is a major coastal seaport city in the U.S. State of Washington and the largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. The city is situated on a narrow isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the 8th largest port in the United States.
The Seattle area had been inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers. Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived at Alki Point on November 13, 1851. The settlement was moved to its current site and named "Seattle" in 1853, after Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.
This image was taken at Kerry Park Viewpoint at the blue hour. The symbol of Seattle, the Space Needle standing tall and magnificent, built in 1962 is one of the most recognizable structures in the world.

The weather in Seattle last week, as in many other parts of the western US, has been exceptional! This is a view from Kerry Park of the downtown area with Mt Rainer in the background. You can see a nearly full super moon on the left. This is a 7-shot vertical pano, 32-bit HDR image. I seldom use any other HDR effects anymore. Hard to shoot when the light is changing by the minute. But the results are worth the effort. The original is about 70 megapixels.

We went to Seattle about a month ago and took Sage on her first plane ride. She was a champ on the plane and already has 5 flights under her belt. The weekend was a bit of a challenge, but all in all it was a fun trip.
I lucked out with a great view and some great weather for the sunrise on our first morning. This is a 10 shot pano, 50mm and 10 second exposures.
I'd been thinking Smith Tower in Seattle would make an interesting subject for a black & white minimalist photo. It's almost monochromatic to begin with and stands largely by itself on the south end of downtown. On top of that, our cloudy winter climate provides the right weather for simplifying the scene.
Washington Series: Seattle Skyline
The best view of Seattle's skyline is from Kerry Park. Sunset at Kerry Park is quite an event, many folks meet, share a beer and a pizza, and on this day there even was a sunset wedding!
