Osprey, also called Sea hawk, river hawk or fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey with a cosmopolitan range. It is a large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm (24 in) in length and 180 cm (71 in) across the wings. It is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts.

The osprey tolerates a wide variety of habitats, nesting in any location near a body of water providing an adequate food supply. It is found on all continents except Antarctica, although in South America it occurs only as a non-breeding migrant.

This is the subspecies P. haliaetus ridgwayi – Maynard, 1887: Caribbean islands. This form has a very pale head and breast compared with nominate haliaetus, with only a weak eye mask. It is non-migratory. Its scientific name commemorates American ornithologist Robert Ridgway.

Seahawk helicopter PN-77 from the Greek Navy flies low over central Athens as part of the 2025 National Day Flypast.

Helicopter: Hellenic Navy (Polemikó Naftikó) Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk PN-77/704901.

Location: Mount Lycabettus, Athens, Greece.

I was fortunate to get invited to go to Day 2 of the Seahawks Training Camp. I had a lot of time to sketch while standing in two ultra long lines. It was a beautiful 90 degree day and there wasn't a lot of shade. They had some misting fans set up to cool the throngs which really felt good! After I finished the sketch of the field we went down to the field and I was fortunate to have two players sign my sketch, Thomas Rawls and Deshon Foxx. I was very close to getting Bobby Wagner and Doug Baldwin but they were called away.

The Seahawk, a carrier based biplane fighter first introduced in 1925, was a Marine Corps

aircraft that was issued to only one squadron, Marine Fighting Squadron 9, which

operated them into 1932. There is one in the National Museum Of Naval Aviation, in

Pensacola Florida.

Space Needle sporting Seattle Seahawk's colors

Boeing's 747-8 Freighter painted in the colors of the Seattle Seahawks will perform a flyover during today's celebration at CenturyLink Field. The flyover is scheduled at the end of the event at approximately 2pm Pacific. The airplane will fly from south to north over the stadium.

The airplane was painted in the Seahawks livery prior to the Super Bowl as a way to congratulate the team and its fans. Boeing is a sponsor of the Seahawks and has partnered with the team for more than a decade on special projects across Puget Sound.

We saw this bird at a show at Cornbelly's in Spanish Fork. The handler said this was the same kind of bird used by the Seattle Seahawks for their live mascot. I caught this shot just as the bird was landing on its handler's gloved hand during the presentation.
