The Myth of the Rugged Individualist is one of the biggest enemies of joy, success, and mental health. It is the idea that we're supposed to be self-sufficient. A more accurate assessment of history reveals that there is always (and we mean 'always') an ensemble of people gathered together to create something great. Einstein sparked off other great minds - he wasn't in isolation. I'm certain Elon Musk doesn't think alone and most certainly doesn't rely upon himself to action his innovations. St Peter was the one upon Jesus built His Church but St Peter was not alone.
This is one of the strengths of a 'Congregational' approach to Christian Life. We are here to be counselors to one another - to give good counsel. And in diversity, we find strength.
Next time you find a friend a little too serious, realise that they bring uniquely 'sensible' counsel to move your plans forward. And the next time you find a friend a little too silly, realise that they bring their own unique energy to the party.
Above all things, remember to seek and ask for counsel in putting your plans together. We can guarantee that other people will always bring something different with their perspective.

“…Risen and glorified, Jesus is our hope! We see that the pain of this life is temporary and the sting of death is fleeting. But even more, we see that all suffering is transfigured—even death, the devil’s greatest attempt to sabotage God’s creation. It became the very means God uses to bring us into eternity.
“So bring Him your heartaches, confusion, and pain. He will walk beside you and your loved ones through the valley of the shadow of death until the day when His victory will be your own, and “the faithful shall abide with Him in Love” (Wisdom 3:9).”

I will give thanks to You, O Lord, with all my heart; I will declare all Your wondrous deeds.

MEDITATION
“…Jesus promises that if we follow His rules—His law of Love, the way of His Cross—we will see “Eternal Life” (John 12:25). No worldly power will ever dethrone us. We will “reign in Life” forever (Romans 5:17).
“Do you want to know victory over the world? Then believe in Jesus, and not just with your intellect. Bow down to Him. Listen for His voice and follow His call to service, even if it seems to go against the “common” wisdom of the world. Believe His promise that “everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 18:14).”

Oxen are strong.
Oxen are messy.
Like the song, "Love and marriage," they go together like a horse (Ox) and carriage.
Lately, I've noticed how beautiful and strong people are... and that without ignoring how we are all a bit weird. Life is a package deal. People are a package deal. To get the bits you want you kind of have to sign up for the whole package! To quote another song from my youth, "Love me, love my dog."
So, today, if a friend or family member becomes irritating, think about their strengths for a minute. It may be a messy relationship at times but it's still a good one! Inconvenience is often the price for moving onwards and upwards together.

swanageurc The fruit of success takes the effort of nurture. Today's verse highlights the power of planning, study, and diligence:
"The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit;
and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty."
Proverbs 21 verse 5.
I have been hasty myself, and have witnessed the chaos caused by others who are too hasty. Too hasty to do their research. Too impulsive to think before they act. Too in a rush for results.
The Hebrew word for diligent used here is also used for 'sharp' and even for a 'threshing sledge'. This reminds me of a quotation ascribed to Abraham Lincoln: "Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe."
That's roughly 67% of the time spent on sharpening the axe. Who of us would dare to plan for 67% of the time?
However much time you're willing to spend doing your homework, seeking advice, pursuing your studies, or digging into your research, know that to 'press pause' is far wiser than to act in haste. In fact, we know a proverb about that too, don't we? "Act in haste, repent a leisure!"

His Love conquers all, even our hurts, fears, prejudices and griefs. Only the CROSS of Jesus Christ can free us from the tyranny of malice, hatred, revenge, and resentment and gives us the courage to return evil with good. Such Love and Grace has Power to heal and to save from destruction. Do you know the Power of Christ's redeeming Love and Mercy?…”

John 12:20-33
“When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” (John 12:32)
MEDITATION
“This is the paradox of the cross. It was through Jesus’ suffering and death that He was glorified—and brought glory to His Father’s name (John 12:28). It was by becoming that grain of wheat that falls to the ground and dies that Jesus was able to produce “much fruit” (12:24). That “fruit”—our salvation—is why we reverence the cross. It is also why Jesus could talk of His impending death as a lifting up. It was truly a triumph of LOVE over death.
“Jesus also promised to “draw everyone” to himself (John 12:32). This, too, was the fruit of His sacrifice. The cross removed the barrier of sin that blocked our relationship with the Father. Now, forgiven and made blameless through Jesus’ blood, we have become sons and daughters of God. Drawn into the heart of the Trinity, we can enjoy Eternal Life with God, both now and forever.
“Today at Mass, gaze at the crucifix above the altar and let it speak to you of God’s infinite LOVE for you. Then praise and thank Jesus for His willingness to suffer and die so that you might live.”
