A White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) Buck from Willacy County, Texas.
Another big buck visits the licking branch. To many this may look like the deer is browsing on leaves or soft twigs, however he only holds the twig in his mouth long enough to coat it with his scent. Bucks will often make a scrape directly under the licking branch, providing a one stop pheromone shop for any other deer that passes through the area.

This is a photo of the hull on a fishing boat that has been scraped prior to being repainted. I love how the project has unintentionally created a fantastic abstract image that could be hanging in an art gallery. There are some intriguing pareidolia portraits in the image.

This was unexpected (though it's appropriate for the temperatures we been suffering).
It didn't stick around too long though. The Canada geese chased the barnacle, a swan chased both the barnacle and Canada geese and the black headed gulls plagued the swan. No a lot of peace and quiet to be had.

Another shot of these beautiful creatures. One of three (it is said) quartering the fields. Two were flying together for a while before this one rested.
Short-eared owls mainly hunt during the daytime, flying low over moorland, grassland and saltmarshes where they feed on field voles and small birds. About the same size as the barn owl, but with long wings, the short-eared owl breeds in North England and Scotland, but can be seen more widely in winter. They nest on the ground in scraped-out hollows lined with grass and downy feathers.
Some short-eared owls migrate here from Scandanavia, Russia and Iceland for the winter and can occasionally be seen flying in off the sea.

Spent the long weekend at Blue Mountain so took a couple of days to tour the waterfalls that can be found in the Owen Sound area. Was an amazing experience to be able to get up close and personal with such fabulous natural wonders. Had a great time climbing and crawling around the escarpment and have a few bruises and scrapes to show for it!!!
I don't think so, 603 has suffered unecessary storage and finally it's reactivated!
C510, BRM002, 603 and C505 lead loaded Allied Pinnacle grain train 3244 into Picton. 603 has been stored since 2013 and SSR have recently put the time into reactivating it. Given how useful and reliable similar locos 602 and 4532 it is welcoming to see this loco back.

Tri-colored Heron feeding on menhaden on Horsepen Bayou. Unusual in that the first strike apparently missed but instead of hitting reset, the bird pursued its target until almost its whole body was submerged. Came up with the fish and never lost its grip on the pole.
Another version from a series I made a long while ago. Probably my favorite vantage point of HK central.
