This Foot Scraper is at the Bernadine Cistercian Monastery at Hyning, near Carnforth, Lancashire. The house originally belonged to the Peel Family. Note that various parts of the Foot Scraper are missing, However it is still in use, as the fields round there can be very muddy in Winter.

A spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari) comes up to a dock piling to scrape off and eat the assorted mollusks attached to it.
The nose on this thing is humongous. Although this ray swims more like a manta ray than a sting ray, it still carries poisonous barbs on its tail!

Well, it not broken but rather new. I like the skewed look of the off floors.

The hole in the stair wall has a scraper for removing mud from one's boots, before one proceeded up the stairs iinto the building. Behind the hole is a chute that allowed the mud to fall into a rain-gutter.
I had the good sense to seal the end of the metal tube, as snow and water would surely be forced inside during use.
I cut out a square of mild steel that just fit inside the end, then tacked on a short section of TIG rod to hold it by.
I positioned the small square inside the end of the tube, holding it by the TIG rod, then tacked the plate to the sides of the tube. I then cut off the TIG rod, and began running weld beads on top of the plate to fully seal the end of the tube.
Being something of a "rush job" I didn't take the extra step of smoothing out the plug weld...
Louisville, Colorado is destroying all their beautiful open space with housing developments. I'm sure they believe they are "progressing." The American system is st up so that cities think they need to grow to bring in more tax revenues but then the growth requires more money and the cycle continues. Such a shame.
