We live on the West Coast in Cumbria, we get some beautiful colours in the sky as the sun is getting low. This was Christmas day 2021 our after lunch before dessert walk. The coast on the horizon over the water is Scotland.

……Not a particularly good shot but interesting how far you can see from the top of Sale Fell - Solway Firth and Scotland off beyond, a stitch of two shots taken hand held on an enjoyable Fell walk. As for wind - there was plenty on top of Sale Fell so I’m sure it would be coming up the Firth!!! BTW, it's not as near as it looks - more than a stroll away which is what it looks😃 Mid point of the week and going well I hope, stay cosy & locked down to stay safe and to keep EVERYONE else safe too! A VERY BIG THANK YOU to ALL the key workers who are carrying on to benefit the rest of us - we applaud you all. Alan;-)👏👏👏👏👏

looking back along the coast as the sun goes down. Haig Pit the last last survivor of our coal mining heritage which is long closed stands in silhouette as a monument to all the proud miners who worked in the pits of the area. Over the water on the horizon is the coast of Scotland. I am so lucky to have this view and this proud heritage. I have to say further along the coast we have huge wind turbines on the energy coast of which I am also very proud, I believe this has to be the way forward for us all.

The 1905 Edwardian-era Bandstand with its Birdcage Style design and wrought iron balustrade with a pinnacle roof.

Donated to the people of Kirkintilloch by Baillie David Perry who later became the Provost of the town, it was also a product of the local long-gone Lion Foundry.

Renovated in the early 2000's and re-dedicated by the late great Magnus Magnusson KBE (Mastermind Quizmaster) who lived in the area on March 1st 2003. The Bandstand was designated a Category C Listed Building from 1979

Dornoch Firth in the gloaming, Scotland (2010)

The golden arc of Earlsferry Beach hugs the edge of the Kingdom of Fife, looking out over the Firth of Forth with quiet authority. Once a medieval ferry point for pilgrims en route to St Andrews, Earlsferry takes its name from the “earls” who crossed here long before bridges spanned the Forth.

Today, it’s a peaceful retreat with a storied past — flanked by dunes, golf links, and the enduring rhythm of tide and wind.

Portencross Pier as the tide is coming in. The sun was setting off to the right and the long exposure allowed the colours although muted to the eye to be picked up by the sensor.

Or maybe it was just the glow from the nuclear power plant around the headland!

Still need to reset the time for summertime

Tucked away in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, this hidden cove on Loch Ard feels like a page from a fairy tale. A quiet kayak waits on the shore, the water mirrors the sky, and the trees stand guard like old storytellers. Perfect place to pause, breathe, and let nature reset your soul. 🌿✨
