Minuit sonne.

Midnight strikes.

I love it when a LEGO set comes together.

Velma Furiosa, Scoob, and the rest of the ragtag band known as Misery, Inc. wander the Wasteland in the Misery Machine, the toughest War Rig of them all.

At Bricks LA 2016 there was an unofficial Mad Max subtheme. Never one to build straightforward I thought of the most non-Mad Max things I could, the recently released LEGO Scooby-Doo sets. Using the Mystery Machine set as a base, I built my Misery Machine with an emphasis on the faded colors and minifig details, plus the custom logo.

I was pretty pleased with the result, but when I arrived at the convention I was surprised to find that the indomitable Jeff Cross had the same idea, and had built his own Mystery Machine war rig. Jeff’s placed more emphasis on the beefed up wheels and armaments, but with a more stock body. With this happy accident of convergent ideas we decided to kitbash them right then and there to come up with the ultimate Misery Machine.

Our combined Misery Machine took home the most humorous prize. What you see here is version 2.0, with my take on all of the best features from Jeff’s. Since I’m terrible at taking and uploading pictures it’s been three years, during which time Scooby-Doo has officially gone post-apocalyptic, and the Misery Machine has made a return appearance at Bricks LA as part of the DUPLOcalypse. It’s still one of my favorite MOCs, from a design perspective but more importantly because of how it came together.

Zoinks! Look at this dose of Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia! Jinkies, that house sure looks haunted. I wouldn’t go near that place for anything less than 3 Scooby Snacks. The gang is on the hunt for clues and it looks like it won’t be long before they find one. Scooby Dooby Doo!!

LEGO did such a great job on these figures.

I realized I'd dropped the team into some other photos, but never gave them a chance to shine. So here it is.

You've all seen 'em. Move along.

Scooby Doo: "Haunted Castle" Shaggy & Daphne Minifigs (Lego)

Copper reminds me of scooby doo when he makes this face haha! I went to the store a couple days ago and just recently picked up a box of them for my babies haha!

Scooby Doo cookies toppers for my daughter Delaney's 4th Birthday. My first time with cookies on a stick! Well worth the extra work... they gave me just the effect I was looking for. I still stress over doing faces... and so admire those who can do them well!

Velma was just about to feed Scooby when she noticed he had a new friend over for dinner....YIKES Scooby!

Unfortunately his beard isn’t quite as red as would like

That's Shellypants as Ms. Marvel on the right, with someone cosplaying Velma from Scooby-Doo. I have to admit that I asked Ms. Marvel for a photo, and before I knew it, I was taking group shots with the Scooby gang over to the left.

A quick MOC using elements of the official Mystery Machine set, along with my Gatling gun from a few previous mech suit designs. Normally I don't make anything meme-related -- nor do I do try to cash in on hot topic trends -- but I get a chuckle out of the Shaggy meme, so I couldn't resist.

Be sure to check out that video for a quick animation along with a step-by-step tutorial!
