Vintage scissors and thread spools in a sewing notion still life.

This is my tessellation of Shuzo Fujimoto’s CFW 87 Scissors. Each molecule can be rotated independently

of others. As far I’m aware, Fujimoto himself never tessellated this pattern. Many other of his stars are likewise based on tessellation molecules which I was not able to find in tessellated form in any of his publications. Perhaps he didn’t realize they could be tessellated, or perhaps he knew but just didn’t publish it.

Such a situation poses an interesting challenge when I try to organize models presented on my web page by linking designs to their “base models”. From a morphological point of view, I consider a tessellation of a molecule to be the “primary” variant, with the star being a special case consisting of just a single molecule. However, from a historic point of view, in this case the stars came first and the tessellation later, with the original author probably not being aware of its existence. So, if I were to follow the historic point of view rather than the morphological, the relation would be reversed.

Played around with this idea for a while before I got out my camera. I wanted to show the paper peeling away from the space behind to give the negative space solidity and mass. Set the shot up against black velvet to make it as dark as possible against the brightly lit lavender paper. Tried it with a B&W conversion, but I just love that bright magenta color too much!

Yesterday I went shopping with my friend and bought charming paper clips. :-)

Do you know what The Useless Machine is? Well, this is almost useless machine as The Useless Machine. I don't know why should anyone use this, but I am not so good with technic parts so I am experimenting. When you press one of three buttons on each side rock, paper or

scissors will pop up.

Taking a moment to think about how to upcycle some of my old work clothes. I have no designs or expectations for them, I just like the fabrics still. Most likely they will stay packed in a box until I have a bunch of moments together in time to be creative with them. Maybe an artistic idea will appear in a new moment somewhere along the way.

Whoever said 'Live in the moment' was very wise...

The patterns were my Grandmother's. She was an amazing seamstress and she sewed everything on her Singer No. 66. I don't sew, but I do know how to glue, tape and staple. The little vase was something I made in high school art class sometime in the 70's.

Looking close...on Friday: Silhouette in B&W

I really really wish we had actually used the scissors to trim this beard! ODC: scissors

"No, I haven't seen you in a while

New vibe, new life, new style

I ain't even tryna get you riled

But it's better you're a stranger, better that we're strangers now

Tell me if you feel like being right

Tell me if you still gon' see my side

I ain't even tryna pick a fight

So if I don't see you later, I'm doing us a favor, yeah

I don't fuck around with someone who hold me down

Only keep the real, real, real ones around

You didn't wanna swim but I didn't wanna drown

So if you got a problem

You could cry me a river

But I'm begging to differ

You put my hand on the trigger

I know I cut you out my life but you gave me the scissors

It's all for the better

Baby, don't let it linger

Blame it on the truth, not the liquor

I know I cut you out my life but you gave me the scissors

But you gave me the scissors (Cut you out of my life)

Gave me the scissors

Keeping all the focus on what's next

Keep the past in the past, no stress

I don't need to fake a fucking flex

It's a mess right now, but I'm onto something better, yeah

I don't fuck around with someone who hold me down

Only keep the real, real, real ones around

You didn't wanna swim but I didn't wanna drown

So if you got a problem

You could cry me a river (Cry me a river)

But I'm begging to differ (Begging to differ)

You put my hand on the trigger (Hand on the trigger)

I know I cut you out my life but you gave me the scissors

It's all for the better (All for the better)

Baby, don't let it linger (Don't let it linger)

Blame it on the truth, not the liquor (Oh, oh)

I know I cut you out my life but you gave me the scissors

Gave me the scissors

(Gave me the scissors)

You could cry me

You could cry me

You could cry me

You could, you could cry me

I know I cut you out my life but you gave me the scissors"
