Castleways as such only dates back to 1971 when Mr Fogarty, who traded as Tower Coaches of Broadway, purchased the business of Mr Gillett of Winchcombe. Gilletts had been running a Cheltenham - Winchcombe service since about 1880, originally as a carrier’s cart, switching to motors in 1925. Castleways as their successors still operate the service, extended to Broadway and Willersey since Bristol OC withdrew their service in 1976.
When I lived in Cheltenham in the early ‘eighties, Castleways and Perretts of Shipton Oliffe were regarded as the two quality operators in the town. Apart from a few schooltime journeys which required ‘deckers, Castleways’ bus services were operated by what at the time were quality coaches, always immaculate, painted in a livery of very dark blue (so dark that it always comes out as black on photographs) and grey, sometimes with gold lining.
I’m afraid that the photos that I took at the time on a cheap Kodak Instramatic, often in lighting conditions that were outside its capabilities, really don’t do justice to this fleet.
This is brand-new Leyland Leopard / Plaxton LFH 719V in Cheltenham on a Willersey service in 1980.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I'd love to have more Animal Lovin' Barbie fashions! Firstly, I have two Nikki dolls that would be fantastic models for them. Secondly, I'm a sucker for anything 80s Barbie. That being said, this shirt has gotten plenty of mileage. I may not have the matching skirt, but I did have a different one that paired perfectly with it. My first Animal Lovin' Nikki wears this, along with a zebra printed yellow skirt from a 90s Barbie fashion gift set. Despite the fact my sister got the aforementioned gift set brand new, the matching shirt for the skirt was always missing (it was a factory error, and was never included in the set). It's so wild that not much looks good with it...except this bold giraffe printed top. I do remember exactly when/where I acquired it too! My Heart Family Schooltime Fun Teacher was sporting this at the local flea market in 2012. I knew she was Heart Family, and I also deduced that this was an Animal Lovin' Fashions top. So it was an obvious purchase for me!

PERSONAL FUN FACT written by my sister: I was so lucky to find my Schooltime Fun Coach Dad doll with his shoes! I'd have been pleased enough just to get his outfit because that's the best way to know which Heart Family Dad you've got. Seeing how adorable this is makes me really wish our Heart Momma had her ensemble as well! I love the heart decal! It makes me think of our Heart Family car! The baby blue color is reminiscent of the car as well. I also love how it says "coach." It makes it more fun to play with. Whoever is wearing it is clearly identified as the coach. I also really like the way the tan color of the shorts compliments the blue. Of course, I'd like it even more if this was actually two separate pieces, because then I could mix and match. However, that is okay. I'm just excited to be continuing to put together the Heart Family's world, one item at a time. We've loved the Heart Family since Shelly bought her Kiss & Cuddle Mom when we were kids. The fixation has grown. We decided to make a point of collecting the Heart Family when we rediscovered our love of doll collecting back in 2011. That was one of the main reasons we wanted J. Michael Augustyniak's book on Mattel Fashion Dolls, which in turn, led us to wanting more Heart dolls. It's like the chicken and the egg, a vicious cycle that never stops!

PERSONAL FUN FACT: American Girl shoes are like gold in my book. Especially when it comes to my Bitty Baby collection, I feel like I'm always fantasizing about owning more shoes for my dollies. Many of my Bitty Baby and Bitty Twins clothes were purchased secondhand at places like the flea market. So tiny fixings like shoes are usually something I miss out on. Strangely, in terms of this ensemble, the only thing I found were the boots. I got these and a handful of other American Girl items at the local flea market in 2018, for just $2. Colleen and I decided to grab as many shoes as we possibly could, whether or not they had a mate (single footwear still comes in handy because we do mate stuff occasionally). I was very excited when I found both of these boots. They are fabulous because their light brown color will match just about anything!
Writing and pencil drawing now get so much fun! The miniature needle felted fantasy owl, will sit comfortably on the kid's pencil. Great keep sake for future memories of schooling childhood's moments. What is more, pencils will always stay away from the sweet chewy little kids' mouth from now on. There's a friend on!
The fiber sculpture / pencil topper, apart from being used as a school accessory, can stand on its own, as a small fiber art decoration in a kid's room, or be played as a soft toy. In colours of fuchsia, orange and pink, can make a great gift for a girl or a fantasy loving adult. Measures of 3cm long, 4,5cm high!

I had seen pics of this taken many years ago when the interior was still accessible and it had alot of the original schooltime exterior pieces still intact. That is no longer the case, but the school itself is still in good shape.I was surprised to come across another storm cellar near an old schoolhouse-maybe this was common, but it is only the second one I have ever seen.

I believe that I may have strained my brain trying to identify a couple of weird finds from the doll bins today - head transplant recipients. Ack!
1. The gold wedding band lead me to conclude that the body = Heart Family Dad 'Schooltime Fun Coach' - 1988 Mattel #3288
But - this head mold was never used on a Heart Family dad as far as I can tell - so I removed it and did some checking around ... my best guess =
Beach Time /Beach Fun Ken - 1985 Mattel #9103
** The match-up is works well, and I will re-join the pieces into a OOAK Ken.
The suit = Heart Family Grandpa - 1986 Mattel #4449
2. The body = Barbie Pretty in Plaid
1999 - Mattel #20667 (the titian version)
Just days ago, in a lucky coincidence, I researched and identified another bin dolly as Pretty in Plaid (that doll was complete with her own head, which made this identification much easier) ... anyway ... this one's yellow ring made me think of her immediately, and a side by side comparison confirmed the body ID to my satisfaction.
The head = Sun Sensation Skipper - 1991 Mattel #1446
** The match-up does not work well at all, and I will not re-join these pieces, but will hold them aside for now and watch for better match-ups.
The clothing is also a bizarre mixture -
shirt = Cool Times Midge 1988 Mattel #3216
hula mini skirt = Kira Hawaiian Fun - 1990 Mattel #5943
3. And finally,
Jordan Knight / New kids on the Block "Hangin' Loose" - 1990 Hasbro
(having somehow escaped the transplant lab with his original head AND body still joined together), orig jacket, slacks & ring.
My second Olympian ride today, 9th November, 2016, was on Northern Countie Palatine 16632 (P232 VCK) on a schooltime service 52, seen here at West Wittering.
Happened to be at Liffey Valley's bus station when I saw this departing not in service. Was surprised to see this given the 117s don't run normal passenger services, plus it being the midterm break for the school services. As far as I know, it was here today on route training duties for new drivers.

Time goes fast, for almost 4 years Bente was with us at 2 days a week. Now she is almost 4 years old and ready to go to school. She is an happiness to have around, talking telling... A little girl who makes me think very much about the time my children had that age, so completely yours.. It was great and I'm happy our children let us share.
I'm very proud of Bente and all other grandchildren!

Apologies for the very poor quality photo - I took several photographs of the bus, none of which came out because it was so dark at the time! PC Coaches acquired NK51UCY from Thames Travel sometime in June 2012, and have now started using it on the schooltime 47 journeys - that's the first one from Newark in the morning, and the 1455 47 to Brant Broughton and 1600 return.
The bus is seen here in Carlton Le Moorland. I'll have another go tomorrow...
Lady M: I'm sorry but he is no longer with us.
Ellie: At monster high, right, please?!?!
Lady M: He is only in one place, its heaven. While he was in a Scaris car, he was going to call you,Ellie that he was coming to monster high. But before he did, he died in a terrible car accident where the car was spinning in the air. I'm soooooo sorry for your dear beloved...
Ellie ran to her room, as fast as she can.
Ellie thought: Rocky was the perfect guy for me. He was my everything!!! Whoo would of done this!!!
Clawd opens the door: R u ok... u seem mad and sad?
Ellie: Close the door and dont tell anyone, PROMISE ME!
Clawd closes door: I promise.
Ellie: Rocky died.........
Clawd: How!?
Ellie: While he was in Scaris over the summer, he got into a terrible car accident. The car spinned in the air...
Clawd: Want me to get Abbey?
Ellie: please
Ellie was all alone in the room as soon as Clawd left. Then she felt a cold wind through her windows wasnt opened. She knew something was wrong... died wrong.
Abbey: What did u want to talk about?
Ellie told her about Rocky's death. (I am too lazy to type the conversation :3).
Abbey: are you ok?
Ellie: Please leave, I need a day alone.
Abbey: I'll come back at 9:00 pm and now its 10:23 am. bye..
Ellie was remembering Rocky and their moments...under a light.
Somewhere else: IN JAIL
Venus: Here's my little death angle!
????:I did kill Rocky, master. To ruin her life for u.
Venus: Got to go, talk to me later. Go to monster high and stay there and come back at 3:00 am tomorrow. Be there!
I was just having fun taking some snapshots in the kitchen, I am to shy to show the other photos.

Whilst shooting the Guinea Pigs (not literally) on Sunday, I put the White backdrop in the light-tent and Lauren set up some of her Peppa Pig toys. I applied some positive EV compensation to give a bright appearance (high-key). I chose a depth of focus to bring the chalkboard and teacher into focus. It seemed to work and my daughter is using the shoot for the front cover of a school project.
This beautiful little bowl shows what was acceptable child rearing between the two wars. Louis Wain's uniquely dystopian view of childhood shows the cat in the dunces cap appealing to smarty pants for help while the master stands with the cane at the ready. That's what you want your little child to see every mealtime!!! Actually, the equation 2+2=6 does show some promise - it shows an understanding of the difference between additive and synergistic effects, or is almost a mathematical definition of life itself.
