Ever heard of Hans-Joachim Marseille? Or "the star of Africa"?

Whilst researching colour schemes for my update on my very outdated Bf109 (Thanks Pickle Gambino and MechanixLego for inspiring me to revisit my old moc) from three years ago, i stumbled across a very interesting read about a daring german Pilot Ace and his black, south African Companion Corporal "Mathew ‘Mathias’ Letulu" in the midst of the second world war.

Marseille was the best flying Ace during WW2 in North Africa - even though he initially sucked at flying, had to survive multiple crash landings and got kicked out of several squadrons because of his arrogance, drinking and not following commands.

He didnt care much about the Nazi Party either and valued friendship and life more, thus flying onto enemy airfields to deliver dog tags of fallen pilots and befriending a black POW, who became his close friend.

Full Story here - its worth the read!

The train is on the recently added, second northeast connector track at the interlocking. This allows trains to more easily bypass Englewood Yard, which this empty unit train will be doing shortly after it rounds the corner here.

Just a classic broadside roster of this veteran still going strong three quarters of a century after rolling off the erecting shop floor in LaGrange.

On a quiet Halloween morning a splash of sun momentarily illuminates an ominous sky and a few lingering fall leaves as the Conway Scenic Railroad's 1030 AM Valley Train pauses beside the former Boston and Maine Conway freight house at about MP 133.3 (as measured from North Station in Boston) on the Conway Branch, owned and operated since 1974 by the Conway Scenic after having seen its last freight depart two years prior.

Running around to couple to the north end of their train is CSRR 573 an EMD GP7 that was built new for the Maine Central Railroad in Sep. 1950 and was delivered in this B&M style maroon scheme during the era when the two railroads were still jointly managed. The veteran geep has called the Conway Scenic home for three decades since being purchased from Guilford Transportation, the successor to the Maine Central, in 1995.

Charter flights and third party maintenance are also operated. The 747-8 which is one of the aircraft operated by Cargolux is the third generation of the 747, with a lengthened fuselage, redesigned wings, new engines, and improved efficiency. The 747-8 is the largest 747 version, the largest commercial aircraft built in the United States, and the longest passenger aircraft in the world.

So many schemes, so little time.

I walked off the street, through a pair of wooden french doors, into into a dimly lit atrium. I had my Taurus revolver drawn, as I had information from a reliable source that a mafia boss, Rufus Valentin was holding my nephew, Julius Crown, an journalist for the Metropolis Star, captive here. I crept to the grate in the middle of the door of the room adjoining the atrium, and peeked in. There Julius lay, trussed up with a sack over his head. Rufus stood, whiskey flask in hand, cackling at Julius with one of his henchmen who was wielding a bat. I grasped the doorknob of the door, turned it, then kicked it open. It caught Rufus on the back of the head and he fell forward, smashing a already broken bottle into bits. The henchmen turned and eyed me menacingly. I strode into the room...

For the Brick Noir category of the MA's: Foggy streets and mysterious figures, trench coats and fedoras, and cigarette smoke that seems to have a life of its own. Build a scene based on the dark crime films from the 1940's.

I could really use everyones' opinion on whether or not this fits the category.

Enjoy and God Bless!

Trona Railway's lease units were rebuilt into SD40-2 by AMF at Montréal in 1992. We found them on a November afternoon at the Trona enginehouse. The shiny quartet (3001, 3006, 3003 and 3005) would leave for Searles Jct. long after sunset, so this was the best we could get.

The Odakyu Electric Railway's fleet of railway cars are, for the most part, uniform. They mainly operate a fleet of silver and blue painted EMUs. With the exception of the Romancecars and one, red 1000 Series set, the 8000 series are the outliers. Built from 1983-1987, the 8000 Series are some of the oldest stock on the Odakyu Railway. They handle local, rapid, and express services across its network. After the completion of the 8000 series in 1987, Odakyu switched schemes to the silver and blue we see today.
