Inspired by Bob Geldof's 'Band Aid', SandAid were a collective of unsigned Blackpool musicians and singers, who released this track to raise money for the 2011 Children in Need appeal to help disadvantaged children. We would like to thank everybody who supported us in 2011.
This was one of two bands that I, personally, most wanted to see when I read the Charlotte Festival's band lineup. I'd first seen the Scene at this festival in June of 1985--forty years before--and a few years later I'd seen them again at Kalamazoo's State Theater.
The band's membership has changed, completely, since I'd previously seen them; all those intervening years will do that, of course. Their sound and repertoire had not changed much at all. A clue to the band's importance within the bluegrass genre is that it doesn't sound dated; this was an influential band, and that influence continues to this day.
I very much enjoyed hearing them again.
