edo tokyo museum, tokyo, japan has fantastic displays of everyday life in the edo period c.1603-1870. the building itself is worth the price of admission (about 6 bucks) and the displays are perfect. museum is located in royagoku district, right behind the huge arena where sumo wrestling matches are fought.

Day 56 - scene of crime. Some mindless hooligans set fire to the old chap's woodyard last night! Still, I expect they had a good excuse for it - perhaps their benefits don't stretch to buying wood for themselves .......... bastards!
There's this nationwide community. It's called freecycle (freecycle.org) and the people within each locale give away items they don't need or want for free. No selling, no trading, no buying. It's reuse over refuse. The site isn't there for other people to make money off of another one's generosity; it is to benefit from another one's generosity. Keep things away from the landfill.
I can give away some books, video games, my old guitar, my Goo Goo Dolls posters. I can get a free board game, a free and inexpensive inkjet printer. I got wine glasses late last year. I'll be giving away a guitar.
And today, I drove across town and got a free game that I will be playing with everyone interested.

I travelled 20 hours to see this band play their last show, and it was so completely worth it. No regrets.
