I watched what I believe to be a Northern Harrier torment the ducks. No birds were harmed in the process. : )
While previous images in this series give a glimpse of shore birds in action, this shot also shows what the fish were doing during my day at the beach five years ago. There are two or three sand bars extending in the into the water near the Galveston jetties at Bolivar Flats and it is possible that large schools of baitfish were trapped behind the first bar near the shore by the unusually flat surf and low tide. Whatever the reason, there were almost constantly more fish in the air than birds and the feeding frenzy went on for hours.

Possibly confused by the locomotive identity crisis, the sheep scatter as 45699 'Galatea' - notionally decorated as 45627 'Sierra Leone', but still sporting the cabside numbers of 45562 'Alberta', climbs away from Armathwaite through Baron Wood with the 1Z54 'Dalesman' 15:24 Carlisle to Lancaster of the 10th of August 2021.
Anyway whatever the number the locomotive looked and sounded superb in the fine summer conditions and it was very nice to bump into fellow Flickerites Ian Cawthorne and David Price amongst others at this location.
10th August 2021.
Another shot from the other day when a bald eagle flew over the break wall sending the resting gulls scattering in all directions.

Rare to see the park empty, but it is raining a bit. Usually there is someone always enjoying a bit of quiet....just myself today...
Flowers from my garden I picked and shared with the elderly lady across the street. Brought her SMILES.

a dramatic sunset but what caught my eye was the little lights to the right in the image where the rays of the sun is shining through between the mountains and the clouds
Freddi the Flicker learned real quick the best way to get rid of grazing ducks is to rap on a window and scream. The noise reminds the ducks of their buddy, Derek, who broke his neck trying to fly through a picture window.

As if I alerted them and they scattered. That's what I think the effect of my Lensbaby achieved here. I thought it was pretty neat and since it's very similar to my first image I thought I should post them both. Have a most wonderfully colored weekend or shades of gray are nice too. ;-)
Thank you all who visit!
A little Photoshop fun.
Bald Eagles seem to love to scatter the Seagulls when they congregate, which gave me the idea for this image.
They also will give chase until they drop any fish they've caught.
Couldn't resist going back to the same spot a week after taking the first shot of this tree for a comparison. Couldn't believe the difference that seven days has made.
With the river (or 'burn') at full pelt, there was plenty of white water to work with here. A scattering of leaves suggests place and season. But it was the form and flow of water around the boulders that caught my eye.

"Keep ascending the mountain of cheerfulness by daily scattering seeds of kindness along the way as best you can, and, should mists hide the mountaintop, continue undaunted and you will reach the sun-tipped heights in your own life-experience." - unknown

I love this photo of the beautiful sunflower, not only for the bloom, but also the bee on the flower head and the one ( out of focus, unfortunately) on approach, dropping bits of pollen as it flies. Zoom to see this more clearly. Certainly not a detail I saw as I snapped this pic......
