Twisleton Scar is a long series of limestone scars lying along the flank of Whernside above Chapel-le-Dale.
`Do we make sense, I think we do
In spite of everything that we've been through
Oh and you say black and I say white
It's not about who's wrong
As long as it feels right
Don't think those stars won't align
Under your scars I pray
You're like a shooting star in the rain
You're everything that feels like home to me, yeah
Under your scars, I could live inside you time after time
If you'd only let me live inside of mine
Live inside of mine

Snæfellsjökull, a 700,000 year old volcanic mountain in western Iceland was made famous by Jules Verne in the 1864 novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth" as the entrance to a passage leading to the center of the earth. When gazing upon this magnificent mountain it's hard not to stop and stare. While traveling or in life it's often easy to forget to stop and savor the moments. That's a message that my friend and amazing landscape photographer Patrick Di Fruscia (pictured here) embodies and lives by and something we would all be wise to remind ourselves to do every once in a while.
By the way, these rocks are slippery little buggers when wet and I have a scar to remind me :O
This week a new series about "Doors". I hope you like it.
Good morning my friends, have a nice day!!! =O)
Everytime you hurt me...it stays a scar...but every scar makes me stronger only.

This is Plover Scar Lighthouse, AKA The Abbey Lighthouse as there are the ruins of an Abbey a short distance away. It is an active 19th century lighthouse situated at the the entrance of the river Lune, near Cockersand in Lancashire, England.

Visiting my sons family in Hervey Bay for a few days, gave me an opportunity to catch a lovely sunrise at Scarness Pier, Hervey Bay.

As well as working this weekend (joy), I managed to fit in a flying visit to Kendal Mountain Film Festival. Highlight of which was telling Alan Hinkes why he couldn't join my (new) climbing club 😆
Anyway, friends recommended Scout Scar for a flying visit. Beautiful outlook but bloomin' hard to photograph! This is the view looking southwards towards Arnside, Silverdale and Morecambe Bay.
Looking in to Gordale Scar, near Malham, North Yorkshire. A very grey wet day when I visited this gorgeous place, perhaps in bad weather the landscape is even more dramatic!
"Speak to me of lovely things, of treasures yet to be found, of peace that flows like a river. Tell me of tranquil places that no hand has marred, no storm has scarred. Give me visions of standing in the sunlight, or feeling the mist against my check as I move and live and breathe. Show me paths that wind through wild lilies and beds of yellow primroses. Sing me songs of the spheres, the mingled voices of wrens and meadowlarks, the lowing of gentle cows, the soft motherly chuckle of the mare talking to her colt.
Lead me past the glass-smooth pond where frogs croak of their coming-out party, their graduation from frisky tadpoles to squat green frogs that wait patiently for the flying insect. Find me a place in the sun to sit and think and listen to the sweet inner voice that says so quietly, 'Peace. Be still'."

People sometimes ask me why I wear scars on my SL avatar, why when we can be perfect in this world I chose not to be? Today I read an article that perfectly sums up how I feel about this.
"I wish I could say you get used to people dying. I never did. I don't want to. It tears a hole through me whenever somebody I love dies, no matter the circumstances. But I don't want it to "not matter". I don't want it to be something that just passes. My scars are a testament to the love and the relationship that I had for and with that person. And if the scar is deep, so was the love. So be it. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are a testament that I can love deeply and live deeply and be cut, or even gouged, and that I can heal and continue to live and continue to love. And the scar tissue is stronger than the original flesh ever was. Scars are a testament to life. Scars are only ugly to people who can't see."

After a great couple of days in the Yorkshire Dales and not wanting to stay around for a sunset that wasn't going to happen we made our way back to the M6.
The sky had cleared on the horizon during the drive and it was either Lancaster or here. Not wanting to risk rush hour Lancaster we opted for Plover Scar.
I first met fellow flickr user Mike Tonge here and he kindly talked me in to the parking area after a brief navigation faux pas on my behalf. You'll be pleased to know Mike, I made exactly the same mistake again and ended up at Cockerham Sands.
It had been incredibly windy in The Dales and it was even more so here. With no tide to play with it's quite a struggle to photograph. But I do like a lighthouse and on the NW coast it's distinctive shape and isolated feel make it a worthwhile journey. Even if you mess up at first.
“I walked away a little disheartened, thinking, 'Oh well. I came a long way to meet the Wizard of Oz, but I guess I won't. Such is life.”

Side wall of the former university building "Gebouw voor Geodesie" (Building for Geodesy) in Delft. This 1895 monumental building was designed by architecht J. Lokhorst.
A side building of more recent date has been demolished to make space for new accomodations, temporarily exposing these interesting details.

Conditions for limestone pavements are created when an advancing glacier scrapes away overburden and exposes horizontally bedded limestone, with subsequent glacial retreat leaving behind a flat, bare surface. Limestone is slightly soluble in water and especially in acid rain, so corrosive drainage along joints and cracks in the limestone can produce slabs called clints isolated by deep fissures called grikes or grykes[2] (terms derived from a northern English dialect).
