Departing Wiñay Wayna I took one last look at the mountainside fortress which had been our home for a night. Three more days of strenuous trekking along the rugged and well-watered Cordillera Oriente lay ahead towards a destination of Kilometer 88, a minor railway stop on the Urubamba River, south of Machu Picchu.

My first attempt at scanning a 120 neg on an HP Scanjet 4850 flatbed that only scans 35mm negs.
Step 1: take the 35mm neg holder completely out leaving the 1 1/2 inch scanning area open.
Step 2: carefully measure or guestimate where the opening will be on the scanner and randomly place the bottom half of the 120 neg in a place where the light "might" hit it. Then lay a piece of glass from a small picture frame over the top of the neg.
Step 3: "Hit and Miss" scan and move about 4 times until you get the bottom half straight.
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the top half of the neg.
Step 5: Take both halves into Photoshop CS2(3) and do "Photomerge" under File / Automate
Step 6: Sometimes the stitch lines come out looking worse than others (see HolgaTree)(I've heard there are better stitching programs out there)...
Step 7: Crop everything down for a nice black border with your edges how you want them, color correct as desired and save the final product as a .JPG
Whew! This process took me about 3 hours for the first one (Holgatree) and about 30 minutes for "Andrea Eurotrash Girl". There's gotta be a better way!!!
