There is this wonderful ghost town in western Saskatchewan that is one of those special places that should be put under some kind of protected status. Perhaps that would only take away from the amazing atmosphere of the place. It's a real ghost town, being abandoned in the 1960s and early 70s, and consists of a store, a dance hall, a couple of houses and this wonderful and surprisingly intact old Wheat Pool elevator. It's a photographer's dream.

Our friend Ken has RSD/CRPS. I know I've looked at this scale before, but having just talked to my SIL about labor pains I thought to look this up again. I was in hard, painful labor for four hours before opting for an epidural. Ken has his pain all the time. He's a much stronger person than I am.
This is the type of shot I normally try to accomplish with my captive charges who are used to my frightening mug staring down at them. Somewhat harder to achieve with a wild specimen, taking patience and stealth. This 3cm neonate learned to trust my presence allowing me to get close enough for a head shot.
Incidentally this is a different individual from the previous one, at a different location. Deeply hidden in long grass hence the slight green tinge at the left edge!
Taken with Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro
