As the Sun sets on the day, I look forward to what's next .
I wanted to start the New Year off with an image from my past. An image that says goodby and opening the door to what's next in the year to come.
This is Horseshoe Lake in Arizona. When I visit this area, I always make a point to get down to this tiny lake in the mountains West of Phoenix. Many times, the water is so low you can almost walk across the lake.

They are saying snow is due this weekend , but on past record of previous years I will believe it when I see it ! My bit of Cornish String is not telling me anything - about anything at the moment .
A Planet Rock DJ this morning was on about how weather forecasts these days are always so dramatic and sound like the whole country is going to be deluged with whatever when only somewhere like the Outer Hebrides is affected !
All that aside , it seems the Yarn Bombers have been busy again decorating the pillar box , these days it seems there is always some sort of themed tea cosy on top here !!
I was fortunate enought to see this wonderful sun halo at the Lake of Menteith the other evening at sunset (Also called Bottlinger's ring). They are formed when sun refracts through the ice crystals in very high level clouds. I was chuffed to capture the reflection too but just as I was going to pack up this flock of geese flew through the shot! Triple whammy!
A goodbye is only painful

I noticed the interaction of this young female and her goat
in the livestock barn at the county fair
and was able to capture several very tender moments
of their last day together.

These young exhibitors have worked hard all year raising their animals, and today is a big day for them. Their integrity, knowledge and skills will be highlighted and applauded.
San Diego County youth have been working all year, raising swine, goats, lambs, steers and rabbits, all pointing toward this day — the Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction. The youth livestock programs give 4H and FFA members an opportunity to learn valuable skills in selection, care and feeding of livestock, animal health and record keeping. These projects also teach important life skills.
The auction is the culmination of Market Week. All week, the animals are judged, and only those deemed blue-ribbon quality are eligible for the auction.

Last night in Inari.
Aurora put on a spectacular show. It was fascinating to watch as it ebbed and flowed all around us, across the broad expanse of inky sky. The camera picks up far more colors than the naked eye can see. Sometimes a brilliant glow, other times very defined strokes, a brush painting across a canvas of stars.
I think I enjoyed seeing the awe in the others as much as I reveled in it myself. It is an infectious feeling of excitement, and we were bitten by the Aurora bug. I certainly hope to see her once again. We slept with smiles on our faces and visions of northern lights dancing in our heads, the memories warming our spirits as we made the long journey home.
Since I've been shooting here in the wetlands folks this is the first time that when approaching a bird he gave me a high five, or in this case a high four, LOL :))), and thought that it was very comical. I'd love to think that that was so true but liked the idea anyway. Have a great and safe weekend all and thanks for stopping in.

Ram's Head has the highest vertical drop of any cliff in the Gorge. It's quite a rush to rappel from.

Our little shih tzu, Cricket, who is 14 1/2 will be put down at 5. She's been failing for so long and we just can't let it go on now. She's stopped eating now with her congestive heart failure. We've tried everything but there is a time when you just have to let them go. This AM I covered her in her bed and she is resting peacefully............
The final train to traverse the Dundee Spur sits on Half Moon Trestle in Passaic, NJ awaiting for workers to finish loading the remaining reclaimed ties in Island Yard.
This is a sobering image of Imani and her last surviving cub who was just ambushed and killed by a lioness. Imani is an older cheetah mother in her 11th year of age. She had a litter of four little cubs and all of them have since perished. On average, cheetahs have 1-5 cubs per litter but their survival rate is only 10%. Of all of the African big cats (cheetah, leopards, and lions), cheetah is the most vulnerable. I have included this image in black and white in the comments to pay tribute to this unfortunate event and the harsh lives of these wild creatures.
Normally I wouldn't create an image with such a similar theme as my other "orb" picture that I recently did, but this was an experiment so I hope you'll entertain me :) I wanted to create a stop motion animation but with images that matched my style, so that is exactly what I did with this picture. You can see the result here. Though very short, I created the video with 517 individually manipulated pictures in Photoshop and it took 19 hours in the end.

...to 2013! See you in the new year =) Felt this image suited this day the best. Clouds rolling in to end the day. Sun setting on the horizon. Along with the fact that this viewpoint is called Inspiration Point; may we all continue to be inspired in 2014!

2011 is ending! I want to thank you for everything, for the views, comments, favorities, anyway, for all. I can't write a lot now, I'm traveling, so it's a little difficult, when I come back home I'll try to start my 52 weeks project, but I'd like to be trustful. See ya <3

Now we wish we had taken more pictures on this, her final Sunday outing. Molly would die less than a week later from a splendic tumor. Here she walks into the sunset, pausing to look back at us, as if to say, goodbye. We miss her so.

For whatever reason Lamont's little Canada Parade was not held until July 12. I had not really taken notice of when it would be held, but as it passed only a block away from home I had heard the sirens and blaring music so I decided to check it out. Perhaps missded the berst parts, but I was not really impressed with most of the entries. For the most part they were 4x4 trucks with magnets of a local business on the doors, or possibly a banner, and kids in the box throwing candy. I am sure kids enjoyed the parade.
My favourite part was when the action came to a standstill for a couple of minutes and horses seen here had a chance for a visit. THere are two horses on the right that are pulling a wagon. The horse on the left was carrying a rider and was allowed to go and say hello to the others. I really thought it was a touching moment.
I left it at the files full resolution (was a slight crop to straighten, so that horse lovers could get a good look at these beautiful beasts.
I have never owned a horse and have only ever been on one once, but I think that they are quite special.
