Don't you just love the fall colours? In the past few years the colourful leaves have been lasting much longer because of warming temperatures. There was a time when the fall colours would seemingly come and go in the blink of an eye. Now the fall colours here in Toronto seem to stick around longer.

Behold the Northern Shrike … this sneaky little song 🎶 bird is also known as the “Butcher Bird”… he was waiting in branches hunting chickadees because that’s what they eat! The only carnivorous song bird of I’m not mistaken. Happy Monday!

Cottage season is a great season. Great time of year to catch fall colours and beautiful sunsets. It's very peaceful just taking time out of a busy day to relax and appreciate the current moment.

Highway 60 is 1 of my fav roads to drive on.

Busy in my kitchen using flowers from our garden.

Lavender and Calendula, Lavender and Shea Butter and thirdly Honey and Beeswax. They all contain completely natural ingredients including lavender essential oil and local spring water.

I no longer buy liquid soap in plastic bottles. Next project is to make shampoo bars (less plastic again). Since we've been washing with my soaps our skin has become very soft - husband now says that they ask him for ID when he buys alcohol because he looks soooo young! 🤣 🤣

I decided to sit and wait behind the tall reeds while I watched this Night Heron reveal it's skills. He did not dissapoint. Catching a fish right in front of my eyes made for a very lucky day! For both of us.

A beautiful day to sit by the beach

All squirrels seem to be very noisy eaters which makes them easier to spot! They pose nicely too.

For this group a project is declared at the beginning of the New Year and by the end of the year a total of 100 photos featuring your topic are posted. Each 25 are posted as a collage.

This is my second collage (25). Whenever I go anywhere outdoors, whether just to the mailbox or for a walk in the woods, I see more and more disregard for our environment. So, my theme is about documenting what I find. It may include candid shots of people in the act of discarding trash or properly placing it in bins, the trash itself, an unfortunate animal entangled in fishing line or a mask, or on the opposing side of things, ways to repurpose or recycle.

*Maybe my project will inspire others to recycle, help pick up trash on the ground, and/or stop littering.

"The starry sky above me, the moral law within me" wrote Kant. "If man is nothing compared to the cosmos, the legislature has absolute morals, taking as its action is the universal interest, dictated by the voice of conscience."

Small actions, bring big changes.

Protect small sites of importance for nature and the environment won't save the great forests from over-exploitation yet, but I think it is increasing rapidly our moral interest and consequently the importance for the environmental status of the planet.

This place is Vincheto Nature Reserve, a site of international interest, including in the European network of biogenetic reserves, and became a special protection area within the Natura 2000 network.

Where is this Belted Kingfisher going and what is he doing, you might ask... He's feeding his family that lives inside the side of a cliff. My mission is to catch the babies coming out on video. Their incubation period is 22-24 days. They mate between April and May soooo... they could come out any day between now & about the 3rd week of June.

This beautiful crayfish (faxonius limosus),

a freshwater crustacean resembling a small lobster, is native to the east coast of North America, but has also been introduced to Europe and is therefore an alien species.

F. limosus carries crayfish plague and is a threat to native European crayfish.

Crayfish plague (Aphanomyces astaci) is a water mold that infects crayfish, most notably the European Astacus which dies within a few weeks of being infected.

Although the F. limosus is also known in Italy as "killer prawn", this individual only looks like saying: "it's not my fault :( "!

It's time for beautiful sunshine and nature. Nothing relaxes me more than watching and spending time with nature.

This Swallowtail was spotted over the weekend.

It was cold, but the silence and the light where magic. This photograph was taken at an early December morning near Leipzig in Germany.

I made this card for ‘Earth Day’ and since Lawn Fawn makes these amazing critters, I thought what can be better than getting the message across through these cute critters?

The new Lawnscaping challenge is a sketch challenge and I used the three main elements in the sketch as the ‘water, land and air’ of our Earth. For the fourth element, I hand drew and cut out the continents to make my ‘planet’.

SSS products used: 'Fishes stamp' from 'Best Fishes' stamp set, stitched rectangles, stitched circles

LawnFawn products used: Bugs and Kisses, Critters Down Under, Whale you be Mine.

Painted Turtles nonetheless! I love seeing these turtles every year in their ponds. Hanging out on a log with minimal disturbance. I took my picture quickly and went on my way.

The groundhog, often caught young feasting on greens, demonstrates its innate prowess for handle little nibbles here. Highly active in warmer months, it will retreat for about half the year in hibernation as winter nears. A snapshot filled with curiosity and simplicity...

**Welcome to the debate**: Vegetation forms the crux of a groundhog's diet. What are your thoughts on preserving these specific habitats versus human expansion? 💬

If you get it, you're Canadian. I was very lucky to see a Beaver today! I heard this fella long before I saw him, gnawing at a branch in the water.

At Delhi - Gurugram border, India. It took 10 years for NGO's and Public to restore this area which was abandoned due to mining quarry. Today it is home for many birds and is known for many rare plants.

I love ferns. I love the green.

I am breaking the golden rule of photography again by putting the green on green.

I read a book and it said whatever makes you happy and enjoying while picture taking, that is probably the right approach.
