Juba, 14 March. The UNMISS memorial ceremony to pay tribute to one of its own, killed in action in Nasir, South Sudan, was a solemn, touching occasion. Sergeii Prykhodko from Ukraine was part of the crew of a helicopter that came under fire - despite assurances of safe passage - during an extraction mission. Two of his colleagues were injured in the tragic incident.
“Sergeii loved life, and not only his own. That is why he became a rescuer, a great rescuer and instructor. He saved many lives during his professional path and gave his life saving others. He is in our minds. He is in our hearts,” said Sergy Kostyuk, Chief Pilot of the Ukrainian Helicopter Company.
