A quelques kilomètres de Varanasi se trouve Sarnath, ville ou le Bouddha aurait fait son premier sermon. On peut y voir le Stupa de cette photo et de nombreux temples bouddhistes, y compris un temple Japonais.

Sarnath is a city located 13 kilometres north-east of Varanasi near the confluence of the Ganges and the Gomati rivers in Uttar Pradesh, India. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.
I didn't think I'd be in India and be able to visit a Japanese temple again! I'm gonna turn this into a postcard and send it to my friends in Japan. They'll b like, what the heck??
Went to Sarnath on Dec 11, 2008. Sarnath is less than 30k from Varnasi.. but road conditions and the crowd make it a ardous journey.
Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first preached to 5 of his disciples..
Also, we saw a huge tomb built by King Asoka plus the excavations of a huge Monstary..
Overall a nice place to visit..
Didn't have time to visit a Govt run museum.. that's where the Ashoka Chakra.. emblem of India is kept..

Sarnath is the deer park where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dharma, it is one of the four places of pilgrimage which his devout followers should visit, if they wanted to visit a place for that reason.
Went to Sarnath on Dec 11, 2008. Sarnath is less than 30k from Varnasi.. but road conditions and the crowd make it a ardous journey.
