"Much Obliged, Santa Claus" A Little Girl Calls Santa - Half a Stereo Card
This is a detail of a William H. Rau stereo card from 1897. A little girl stands on a chair to reach a wall mounted telephone to send thanks to Santa Claus. Even if she could get a connection to the north pole how can Santa hear her when she is speaking into the ear piece?
While she makes the call holding a doll by its foot her brother plays with another doll seated on a toy horse. I wonder if the cat whose legs can be seen under the chair is real or a toy.
This is a nativity scene decoration I'm made for Christmas. It is a first draft and I am planning to expand is and make it look a bit nicer.

These Santa Clause cookies are a family recipe passed down from my great-grandma, who made several batches each Christmas for much of her (long) life. When she passed away a few years ago, my mother and I decided to continue the tradition, using her same cookie cutter and recipe.

This amazing Santa was crocheted by Southport’s wonderful crochet group, Southport Hookers! They mainly make fantastic postbox toppers and change them on relevant dates, next will be valentines Day. This year they’ve gone ‘big’ and produced Santa and also The Snowman and his dog. I spotted Santa in Birkdale Village but he’s now moved across town to Churchtown Village by the Church.
