Santa and Misha in a canoe in front of our Christmas Tree. We too would like to take Misha again in our canoe but snow and freezing rain is predicted on Christmas Day. Hope we can!
Best wishes to you all at this wonderful time of year.
The buildup to the Christmas Holiday is always a hectic one. Whether you celebrate it or not, here's hoping my Flickr friends are able to enjoy some relaxing time off with family and friends. I'm very grateful for all your faves and comments over the past year and wish everyone very Happy Holidays.
This image, with a decorative Santa, made over a plastic pop bottle of all things, was given to us years ago by my mother and always makes an appearance this time of year. He was a good subject for a Christmas greeting so I propped him up on a stool with some foil lined bubble packing material in the background. A flashlight hidden directly behind him, and an external flash on the camera, completed the setup. Cheers, everyone!

Alicante is a Spanish coastal city located on the Costa Blanca in the Valencian Community. The city is an important port for the export of central Spain and the region with its beautiful sandy beaches attracts many tourists. In Alicante we can find art, culture, seafood and beautiful beaches. Alicante has a beautiful old town with a beautiful boulevard along the coast Explanada de España and lively terraces. The most beautiful sight is the castle of Santa Barbara on Monte Benacantil a hill of 166 meters high. The history of Alicante dates back to 230 BC, when the city was founded under the name Akra Leuk. After that, the city became part of the Roman Empire and in 711 the Moors occupied the city, who also gave the city its current name 'Alicante'. The Moors also laid the foundation for the fortress on top of the Benacantil hill, but after the conquest by the Spaniards this grew into the castle Castillo de Santa Bárbara. Concatedral Sant Nicoás de Bari is located in the old quarter of Alicante , this majestic cathedral, upon entering, gives you a feeling of awe; its enormous size, the very high ceiling, the beautiful altar and above all the serene and quiet atmosphere it commands, derives an immediate respect, even for people of other faiths. It is a place of worship and dignity. It makes you feel humble, something that its designers managed to achieve so many centuries ago.
Alicante has a beautiful old town. The Concatedral de Sant Nicolás de Bari is located in the heart of Alicante on Plaza del Abad Penalva. The square has a beautiful marble floor in front of the church entrance. It is an active church. A mass was held. Beautiful inside, but what was even more amazing was the acoustics. A place of reflection and prayer. On top of this 17th-century cathedral is a 45-meter-high blue dome, a Baroque chapel and elegant cloisters. Built in 1616, on a medieval temple that was already a parish in 1264, it was founded in 1600 as a collegiate church by Pope Clement VIII. Since 1959, Pope John XXIII has designated it co-cathedral of Alicante. Interesting history, still search the outer wall for evidence that the church was hit by artillery fire. There is also another beautiful garden cloister if you are lucky enough to see the huge doors open to the left of the church. Well worth a visit. To the left of the entrance is a depiction of the story of Santa Claus who sails with the boat from Spain full of packages to the children in Europe.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, everyone! In celebration of the holidays, I redesigned/rebuilt my Santa Yoda from 7 years ago.
"Hmmmm! Naughty have you been?)
It wouldn't be one of my series if it didn't have at least one artistic shot.

The Basilica of St Mary of Alicante is located in the old quarter of Alicante , this majestic basilica, upon entering, gives you a feeling of awe; the beautiful altar and above all the serene and quiet atmosphere it commands, derives an immediate respect, even for people of other faiths. It is one of the most important religious buildings in the city of Alicante. In the historic area of the city, keep in mind that it only opens before mass. It is a place of worship and dignity. Not overwhelmingly large, like the Concatedral de Sant Nicolás de Bari, it was more intimate and welcoming. Worth a visit, if in the Old Town.

The square has a beautiful marble floor in front of the church entrance. It is an active church. A very cozy and lovely church with a long history, it was a mosque in the past years but destroyed and then they started to made church in 14th century and that finished in 15th century. The basilica is composed from a single nave with six side chapels located between the buttresses. In 2007, by request of the city of Alicante, the church was promoted to the rank of basilica. This 16th-century Catholic basilica features gothic Valencian style & an ornate baroque entryway.

I just really like this. maybe its because I only noticed santa's shifty-eyed leer after I got home and downloaded the photo. he's looking at me, as if I'M the one that doesn't belong in this picture. he's the one wearing yellow (?), holding creepy sleeping green birds (why is it sleeping?), glued to some random mirror in a sketchy basement in chinatown in the middle of february.

editing based on this amazing girls photos.
the butterfly effect;
scientist proved that the butterfly makes such a big impact on the world, that something as insignificant as flapping its wings, can cause a hurricane or tornado on the other side of the world, as it sends particles through the air which send other particles through the air, and so on.
so never for a second think you're insignificant!
Just a little too early ... but my wife doesn't agree!!
