Tabakalera is a former tobacco factory in San Sebastián, Spain which was converted into the International Centre for Contemporary Culture of San Sebastián. Located in the Egia district of San Sebastián, next to the Estación del Norte railway station and the Cristina Enea park, it takes up one of the biggest plots (13.277 m2) of the urban area.
For 90 years (1913–2003) Tabakalera was a tobacco factory. It was one of the main employers in San Sebastián and most of the workers were women. The building took the name of the enterprise that managed the tobacco production in Spain until the privatisation process that converted Tabacalera into Altadis.
In 2003 the factory was closed by Altadis. A year later, in 2004, the San Sebastián City Council, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Government bought the building in order to transform it into an international contemporary culture centre.
Since 2007 Tabakalera organised a wide sort of activities. Exhibitions like Summer by Julian Schnabel (2007), No es Neutral (2008), Egiatik (2008) and Look Again (2009) or experimental shortfilm screenings like LABO, in collaboration with Clermont-Ferrand Festival.
In 2010, refurbishment works began in the building. On September 11, 2015, the renovated building was inaugurated. The building contains exhibition halls, a multi-purpose plaza, a multi-purpose hall, a cinema theatre, a creation library, media labs, spaces for art creation, a cafeteria, a restaurant, a residence for artists, and a hotel. It also hosts the headquarters of local culture institutions Kutxa Kultur, the Basque Cinemathèque, the San Sebastián International Film Festival, and the Etxepare Basque Institute. [Wikipedia]

Is a city and municipality located in the north of Spain, in the coast of the Bay of Biscay and 20 km away from the French border. The city is the capital of Gipuzkoa, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country. The municipality’s population is 186,122 (2011), and its metropolitan area reaches 436,000 (2010). Locals call themselves donostiarras, both in Spanish and Basque.
The main economic activities are commerce and tourism, being one of the most famous tourism destinations in Spain. Despite the city’s small size, international events such as the San Sebastian International Film Festival have given it an international dimension. San Sebastian, along with Wroclaw, Poland, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2016.

Donostia (ofizialki euskaraz eta gaztelaniaz Donostia-San Sebastián) Gipuzkoako hiriburu eta udalerri nagusia da. Halaber, Euskal Herriko laugarren hiririk populatuena da: 185.506 biztanle zituen 2010eko urtarrilaren 1eko erroldan, horietatik % 40,3 euskaldunak. Haren metropoli eremuak 405.099 biztanle ditu. Hiriaren zaindariak San Sebastian eta Koruko Andre Maria dira, eta haien jaiegunetan ospatzen dira hiriko jai nagusiak: San Sebastian eguna (Donostiako Danborrada), urtarrilaren 20an, eta Aste Nagusia, abuztuaren 15eko astean.
Turismoa hiriaren euskarri ekonomiko nagusitakoa izan da XIX. mendetik, hiriaren edertasuna, urbanismo orekatua eta natura uztarturik. Merkataritzak eta bestelako zerbitzuek ere jendetza handia erakartzen dute probintziako herrietatik. Halaber, zentro administratibo garrantzitsua da: Gipuzkoako erakundeek eta Euskal Autonomi Erkidegoko zenbait organok Donostian dute egoitza. Unibertsitateek pisu handia dute hiriaren bizimoduan, hiru campus kokatzen baitira bertan: Euskal Herriko Unibertsitateko Ibaetako campusa, Deustuko Unibertsitatekoa eta Nafarroako Unibertsitatearen Ingeniaritza Eskola. Ikerkuntza arloan, aipagarria da Donostia International Physics Center, fisikaren arloko nazioarteko zentroa.
Kirolzaletasuna ere nabari da hirian. Real Sociedad futbol taldeak hirian eta probintzian jarraitzaile gehien biltzen dituen futbol taldea. Saskibaloian, errugbian eta hockeyan, orobat, talde garrantzitsuak ditu hiriak. Aipagarria da udazkenean jokatzen den Behobia-Donostia lasterketa, milaka korrikalari biltzen dituena. Udan, Donostia Klasikoa nazioarteko txirrindularitza lasterketa egiten da. Ospetsua da Kontxako Bandera arraunketa proba, festa giroan egiten dena. Donostiatik gertu dagoen Lasarteko hipodromoko udako zaldi lasterketak ere entzutetsuak dira. Pilotak, berebat, leku nabarmena du Donostian, partida handi askoren jokaleku baita Atano III.a pilotalekua.

The Kursaal Congress Centre and Auditorium is a complex comprising several spaces: a great auditorium, many-use halls and exhibition halls. It was designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, and is located in Donostia-San Sebastián (Basque Country, Spain). It opened in 1999.
It consists of several spaces, including the 1,800-seat concert hall, the Palacio de Congresos-Auditorio Kursaal, and is the home of the biggest film festival in Spain, the San Sebastian International Film Festival, in existence since 1953.
