Sampler of filler stitches, pattern from from the 1959 "Handbook of Stitches" by Grete Peterson and Elsie Svennas. Blogged here

This is my version of the Mod-Sampler quilt from Oh Fransson with Heather Bailey prints and Kona solids. My dog, Barley, wanted in on the picture. It's a cute pic of him, not so great of the quilt since the sun was so bright. My indoor pic showed the fabric much better (see my photostream). I realized after I added this to the Mod-Sampler group that the person before me had their lab in the pic too!!! Funny!

These were the first stitches I learned. After I practiced, I just kept this piece on the hoop and kept filling in the space. I actually like it though. i think I'll make something out of it.

2 tows of cable chain, both in pearl cotton

I just started working on this absolutely gorgeous sampler, and I've been really enjoying it so far! It's great practice and will make a beautiful piece to hang in my apartment. Love it! : )

As I look at all of the photos of fiber art by fabulous Flickr artists, I find myself inspired to try new ideas, learn new things. So This is my sampler of embroidery stitches, It is not in the traditional way some samplers are made.. Im not really a traditional girl.

The fabric is from Ikea, it is mostly black and white line drawings, a perfect thing to practice on.

Thanks for the inspiration all of my dear flickr contacts :) You are are all so talented and Im glad to know you via the web.

Quote from Colbert Report:

"Reason has been a part of organized religion ever since two nudists took dietary advice from a talking snake."

It's a real "sampler", in that I used a lot of stitches I hadn't tried before. (see notes on that image.)

Progress so far... scrolling down! Squee!!

My first cross stitched piece.

No idea how this will end. Inspired by Tatreez embroidery.

I tried to improve the binding joins with a small embroidery...

Jumping ahead finish all 99 blocks from Farmer's Wife 1930. It is such a great book!

Used all DS prints for this quilt and loving all the years collection in one!

somehow, the page on the left ended up looking more like a scrapbook page. The title of these pages is "Oh How I Love" and I love pearls, kids and dogs, haha!

Small 35mm plastic camera that has a rotating blade behind the four lenses thereby exposing the film to one lens at a time before you wind on to the next, this is a copy of the action sampler cameras and Newcastle seems to be flooded with these at the moment, there are at least two charity shops near my home that have dozens and dozens of these selling them for £1 each brand new still in original boxes with chinese writing on them.

het jaar is begonnen. eerst maar eens mijn restjes samenvoegen tot een nieuwe sampler...

working on another sampler to test out some more idea for my on going thoughts from alchemy: enso. there are a few of karen's stitches here so it isn't totally and dog's dinner served with a pig ear!

Check out the different versions that our writers and readers have been stitching! From left to right: arrow stitch, sheaf filling stitch, seeding, granito stitch, detached wheatear stitch, cross-stitches, and ermine stitch. The dividing lines are coral stitch, chain stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, split stitch, Portuguese stem stitch, and my whole garden is fenced in by back stitched chain stitch.
