Finally getting tired of working with scraps, I decided I wanted to start a sampler. I looked through the books I own, and then decided, why follow someone else's pattern? I'll just do my own! I have enough reference books.

This first teacup was a real challenge! Lots of mistakes and unpicking! But in the end it looks great! The second one was a breeze once I got my head around it, absolutely loved this project!

E mentioned that this sampler would make a good bread cloth. Now, I just need to bake some bread.

Warp: ivory & chocolate brown
Weft: light brown
I have continued to stitch on a piece of waxed brown paper and I have discovered that hand stitch alters the surface of the paper, far more than machine stitch. I have rubbed Treasure Wax on to the central part of the hand stitching.

BBQ Sampler at Mo's Smokehouse BBQ in San Luis Obispo, California. It comes with barbecue babyback ribs, pulled pork, chicken, beans, potato salad and a corn muffin.
Loosely copied from a vintage children's bedtime sampler. Made it as a thank-you gift for incredibly hospitable friends whom we recently visited.

Belated Christmas gift. I'm guessing this is probably from the 1970's or early 1980's. It's quite large (12 x 18-ish). I'll frame it; it will look great in my green room!
Stitched with Kreinik silk and metallic threads. Easy project, stitches quickly. Made for a sampler collector. Would be nice gift for a school teacher too. From www.kreinik.com/shops/Cross-Stitches/
