The technical rehearsal ended, and now the stage crew begins getting the seats in place as well as clean up the place in preparation for the concert. This give Sam a chance to ask questions. He is introduced to the drummer, who affectionately goes by the name of "Bonebeater". His real name was Frank Enstine and his regular work was a mechanic at the local garage. The stage manager, Joe Kinwright, had joined them. He just listened, but nodded his head in agreement. Sam asked him about his costume and who made it.
"Oh, that's an easy one. I got this made at King's Costume Shop. Great guy. He even made a whole set for a gig we did as a band for a Halloween bash. The whole ghoulish gang wore costumes that would scare even a werewolf!".
"Do you know anyone else who may have used Nosmo's services in getting their costumes made?" Sam asked, hoping that Frank would give him additional names.
"Oh, I can't offhand remember, but there was this one lady who was very fussy about her costume for a magic act. It had to have secret pockets in the sleeves and an extra fold in the band around the waist. She was very picky. I remember her well." Joe also nodded.
"How's that?" Konoto asked, trying to qualify his answer.
"Oh, that's the easy part! She had a distinctive brand of perfume. I couldn't tell you the name, but I know my grandmother used to use it." Frank admitted that he didn't know any other people who would have used Nosmo's services, but this was one additional clue that Sam and Konoto could use. "I also know she likes music, so she might be here, and even performing her magic tricks." Joe nodded again, and gave a 'thumbs up', indicating that she was on the program.
"Thanks," they said in unison. Sam added, "We'll come again tomorrow to see the whole performance." Sam was pleased to learn what he heard.

I met Sam in Bideford, Cornwall recently. I was sat in a cafe having just ordered food and saw him standing beside his old honda motorcycle, he appeared to be waiting for somebody.
He looked very relaxed and at ease with himself and having spotted this alley a few minutes before I nipped over as he made his way to a cash ATM. I introduced myself and the reason I was speaking to him and despite being in a bit of hurry Sam agreed to a picture.
Sam was an intriguing character, he noticed small details like the fact I was using a manual lens and we had a discussion over the pros and cons of this, I asked if he was into photography and he said he liked gadgets, not being drawn further.
He has lived in Cornwall since 2002 and before that "various places" including time at boarding schools.
Sam gave me his card which describes himself as a 'Specialist in the non specific" and was titled "Erratic Static", and on the back an image of St Jude the Patron Saint of Lost and Impossible Causes. I wish I had had time time to find out more.
