The greater sage-grouse, also known as the sagehen, is the largest grouse in North America. Every spring the males will perform on the 'lek' where battles take place and mating occurs. They are still considered a game bird in many locations with the main threat being the loss of habitat.

tried to do the best I could with all that harsh backlighting by zooming in close.....! birds are well versed on how to completely ruin any chance of good pics by using the lighting to their advantage...

Am pretty sure it’s dried sage. It came with a “talking feather” gifted to me today from a former student. I’ll post a picture of the feather later in the week

The Luebeck legend of the fisherman Luba

One morning several fishermen who had gone out to fish came back to Lübeck and excitedly reported that Lübeck was enclosed by the heathen on land and at sea. Hunger was supposed to force Lübeck to surrender. Buthue wanted Lübeck to be razed to the ground just as the Greeks once destroyed Troy.

Most of all, a young fisherman named Luba mourned the hardship in his hometown. When the need was greatest and there was almost no food left in town, he had an idea. He took all the bread, meat and other food that could still be found in Liibeck, and drove his boat towards the enemy ships. When the enemy stopped him and they examined his boat, they found the food. They brought him to Prince Buthue, who asked the fisherman: "Where do you want to go with the food?" Luba replied: "I want to sell the food in the surrounding villages, as there is great need everywhere due to the war. There is still plenty in Luebeck."

Prince Buthue sent the fisherman away again. On his departure, Luba was delighted to see that the enemy was lifting the siege. Luebeck was saved by the fisherman Luba.

Sage blooming in a cloudy day.

Small thrasher with a short, slightly curved bill. Found on the West Mesa of the Rio Grande Gorge which is a veritable sea of sage. This male was up singing on a sagebrush. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

Sage Gateshead opened in 2004 , and is a concert venue and centre for music education. Based in Gateshead on the south bank of the River Tyne , it is also an iconic building . Seen here from near the Tyne Bridge on the Newcastle side , we are actually looking at the rear of the building. The Sage has also become representative of the regeneration of the Tyneside region as a whole.

Herbs bookmark are easy to make and they have beautiful scent.

Fresh homegrown sage was placed inside a book and left alone for a few weeks.

Then the book was opened again and the bookmark was dehydrated and ready to use.

Little Sage from several years ago.... she wasn't sure she wanted to travel even then.... she was getting ready to go on a plane flying thousands of miles away from her home....and she was nervous. She was checking how soft the tissue paper was that lined her little packing box...

Finally she did go... had a lot of fun and helped raise funds for a little donkey sanctuary.....

She is a tiny 2 inch needle felted, string jointed bear with black onyx beads for eyes and an embroidered nose.

No new pics for Teddy Tuesday..so I'm putting Sage's photo on for you...
