It's just a photo of my dear 14-yr old cat Frits sleeping, mixed with a water surface bachkground.
But for how long will he be with me? 4,5,6 years? This sad shadow often darkens my mind, so I sought an expression for it.
The Baháʼí House of Worship is one of the most beautiful buildings in the Chicagoland area. Since the exterior is almost entirely white, it's a great candidate for a monochrome series of images.

Roses are flowering plants that belong to the family Rosaceae. They are known for their beautiful, fragrant flowers that come in a variety of colors, including red, pink, yellow, and white. Roses are commonly used in gardens, as cut flowers, and in perfumes and cosmetics. They have been cultivated for thousands of years and have a rich history and symbolism in many cultures.

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.
Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all.
In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish.

Achaemenid griffin at Persepolis.
In symbolism, the griffin combines the symbolic qualities of two solar creatures, the lion and the eagle. It is the king of birds and lord of the air united with the king of beasts and lord of the earth. Griffins are a symbol of the sun, wisdom, vengeance, strength, and salvation.
In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents purity of the body, speech, and mind as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire.
Loosely inspired by the works of Léon Spilliaert (1881-1946), as seen in the "night wanderers" exhibition at Kunstmuseum The Hague, the Netherlands.

Location: National Arts Museum of the Republic of Belarus, Minsk.
While I was waiting to get a shot of Air Force One taking off this Bald Eagle circled overhead. Thought that was so cool. The two shots were actually taken about 15min. apart.
Landscape with Pomegranate… by the Thames at Richmond are 2 stone pillars marking the position of an ancient meridian line that passed through Richmond Observatory, both currently are adorned with pomegranates… which seem to have varied symbolic meaning in art…
Early autumn light filtering through the trees, catching the last warmth before the forest turns silent.
Shot beneath an old wooden bridge where the stream runs colder each day.
Starting to pack already... We leave for Madrid on Friday and back home to California on August 4. Where does time go...?
PS. I wish this umbrella didn't have the backpacks (although, like SuperDewa said, they're a good symbolism for the packing...!) but imagine the scene: "Hi, can I move your stuff so I can get a pretty pic?" :-D
