The symbolism of unity in the lily goes hand in hand with purity. The white variety of the Asiatic lily (lilium) is not called the Madonna lily for nothing; certainly in Christianity this is a reference to the virginity and purity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. You often see the flower in bridal bouquets and in religious expressions.

A rosary of Renaissance altarpieces and chapels curds small details give the visitor one of the best jewels of ancient Uxama.
Imagery and symbolism covers all corners make this huge church in a real jewel sincretiza currents and cultures. The original Romanesque church, started by San Pedro de Osma, was replaced by the present Gothic building that began to build in 1232, at the expense of Bishop Juan Dominguez, chancellor of King Ferdinand. Of the early church only two arches are preserved.

Ladybug symbolism excudes happiness and positivity. If you believe in the ladybug totem, you can be sure of good things happening to you.
What does it mean when you see a ladybug?
Most importantly, to accept the blessings she gives you when you encounter her and to accept her as a powerful ally in making important changes in life.

Due to its nature which is volatile, transformative, luminous and warm, fire carries this symbolism which is linked to spiritual, alchemical and metaphysical meanings.
One of my favourite ever pieces of music is Delibes' Flower Duet from the opera Lakmé. The duet is sung by Lakmé, the daughter of a Brahmin priest and her servant Mallika whilst gathering flowers from a river. For me it’s one of those truly uplifting pieces of music that touches the soul and transports me to the banks of that beautiful river 💕
OK, the flowers should be blue lotuses under a dome of white jasmine and roses but in January lockdown England I had to go more for symbolism - ie these two little flower blooms - a flower duet.
For this week's Macro Mondays theme 'Lockdown Song'. HMM!
Many thanks for all the kind comments and faves on my images.
Forget-me-nots are symbolic of love and loss in many contexts, for many cultures. Here, brimming in pillowy clouds, they revel on the limestone soils of Quarry Park in Essex, New York.

My neighbor's, and they do attract a lot of butterflies.
However, because of the special interest mosquitoes have on me, I could never think of sitting near them and waiting for that perfect butterfly moment. Just a few minutes out that evening, I was kissed multiple times.
Yes I could always apply repellent but nothing could completely stop their love for me!
On the storm front, Mr. Henri decided to take a further eastward path and gifting us with rains and mild wind.
All good here, and hope you are, too! :-)

Symbolism of the rose
The rose has been the flower of love and romance for centuries. It is not without reason that it is the most sold flower during Valentine's Day. The rose has extensive symbolism and differs per color but also per number.
Pink rose: Timid love -‘I watch you from afar.’
In the back: Autumn leaves....
Just when i was getting tired of shooting orange larches against a flat blue sky a feather shaped cirrus cloud appeared in the sky above the Langkofel Group adding that little extra detail i needed so bad.
I knew about the meaning white feathers have in symbolism so i took it as a good sign and happily shot a bunch of pictures in panorama mode as the cloud quickly vanished to the east.
Last night, while processing this image, to my great surprise i found out that somebody had entered the field of view unnoticed and was innocently walking under the trees in front of me, he's visible in every frame... I admit this unwanted presence is a minor issue but what about that good sign??
A good omen of Eagle rising out of the ashes, signifying our times of transformation on all levels.

The Easter Bunny is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. Originating among German Lutherans, the "Easter Hare" originally played the role of a judge, evaluating whether children were good or disobedient in behavior at the start of the season of Eastertide.[1]

Rabbits have been popular with many Japanese people, and their motif has been used on various items such as table wares, kimono, obi and general merchandise.
Rabbits only drive on forward and don’t step back, so they have been considered lucky as a symbol of advancement.

The subtle effect of shapes on the associative understanding of the world has always fascinated me. The objective observer detects a symmetric space in the middle of an organ is. What identifies our subconscious?
A perspective on the external carving of the Upper Hutt College Meeting House (Wharenui) Trentham, New Zealand. Te Reo Māori is the native language of New Zealand. It is spoken by the native Māori people and is used to express their culture, heritage and identity. Te Reo Māōri was the only language in New Zealand until the 19th century arrival of Europeans. Prior to this there was no written word therefore Māori communicated through symbolism. The detailing in carvings, knots and weavings were the way Māori recorded stories for future generations.
Dahlia flower-plant in full bloom in the backyard garden ...
Dahlia has a rich symbolism: the flower stands for wealth and elegance, and also for love and involvement. It's a perfect flower to express your love!
Back from my holidays in the wonderful North of France (Pays de la Loire to be precise!).
Being in the middle of nowhere meant I had the opportunity to take some photos of the Perseids and the Milky Way!
I've called the photo 'Heavenly Symbols' because, shooting stars, the Milky Way and (more obviously) the cross can have religious symbolism!
For me it was just a wonderful night under a sea of stars!!
Looking forward to catching up with all your photos over the last 2 weeks!

The geranium flower symbolizes happiness, good health, good wishes, and friendship. They are associated with positive emotions, with the exception of the Victorian symbolism of stupidity or foolishness. This old symbolism has basically fallen to the wayside as this cheery flower is typically considered a harbinger of happy thoughts and emotions.
Niels Hansen Jacobsen's symbolist masterpiece - death as a stealthy and creeping figure.

da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Hansen_Jacobsen
Hansen Jacobsen provided the sculpture with the following poem:
"Death, soon it is invisible, hides in the dust of the road, but catches up and reappears when we least expect it, still creeping in our footsteps, impossible to escape."
I think this was the first time I saw a lotus flower and a pond full of lotus plants. My husband and I thought the seed pods look just like shower heads.
Many gods or sacred beings of Asian religions are depicted as seated on a lotus flower. In Buddhist symbolism, the lotus represents purity of the body, speech, and mind as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire.
One could talk about the different architecture styles between front and back. One could talk about all the details you see. The space between statues, some sort of hierarchy you see.

In nature, light creates the colour. In the picture, colour creates the light. Hans Hofmann.
Hans Hofmann (March 21, 1880 – February 17, 1966) was a German-born American painter, renowned as both an artist and teacher. His career spanned two generations and two continents, and is considered to have both preceded and influenced Abstract Expressionism. Born and educated near Munich, he was active in the early twentieth-century European avant-garde and brought a deep understanding and synthesis of Symbolism, Neo-impressionism, Fauvism, and Cubism when he emigrated to the United States in 1932. Hofmann's painting is characterized by its rigorous concern with pictorial structure and unity, spatial illusionism, and use of bold color for expressive means.
Hofmann is also regarded as one of the most influential art teachers of the 20th century. He established an art school in Munich in 1915 that built on the ideas and work of Cézanne, the Cubists and Kandinsky; some art historians suggest it was the first modern school of art anywhere. After relocating to the United States, he reopened the school in both New York City and Provincetown, Massachusetts until he retired from teaching in 1958 to paint full-time. His teaching had a significant influence on post-war American avant-garde artists—including Helen Frankenthaler, Nell Blaine, Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, Louise Nevelson, and Larry Rivers, among many—as well as on the theories of Greenberg, in his emphasis on the medium, picture plane, and unity of the work. Some of Hofmann's other key tenets include his push/pull spatial theories, his insistence that abstract art has its origin in nature, and his belief in the spiritual value of art. Source Wikipedia.

A gentle veil, serene and bright, Hollyhocks bloom in purest white. Their petals whisper, soft and fair, A tranquil grace, beyond compare.
Clustered high, they reach the sky, Dreams unfold where blossoms lie. Their beauty stills, their essence gleams, A vision born from summer's dreams.
Hollyhocks carry rich symbolism across cultures. They are often associated with ambition and reaching for one's goals, as their tall stalks seem to strive upward, toward the sky. In Victorian times, they symbolized fertility and the cycle of life, while also representing domestic happiness and tranquility.
Additionally, their sturdy presence in cottage gardens is said to reflect strength and resilience, making them a timeless emblem of beauty and endurance. What a lovely flower to admire! 🌼
So symbolism in photography. We have seen it through the centuries with artists. It is interesting to see how people interpret the symbols artists put into their art.
This photo contains a few... I hope you enjoy the thought process behind it, and thank you to my dearest friend ~Christian~ for giving me the idea and then me putting my spin on it.
