The greatest symbolism of the Dandelion flower comes from its unique puff-ball seed head rather than the sunny flower. Kids and adults alike pick the seed head – known as a clock in America and Europe for its shape – and blow the Dandelion seeds away while making a wish.

Goldfinch - Carduelis Carduelis

On closer inspection male goldfinches can often be distinguished by a larger, darker red mask that extends just behind the eye. The shoulder feathers are black whereas they are brown on the hen.In females, the red face does not extend past the eye. The ivory-coloured bill is long and pointed, and the tail is forked. Goldfinches in breeding condition have a white bill, with a greyish or blackish mark at the tip for the rest of the year. Juveniles have a plain head and a greyer back but are unmistakable due to the yellow wing stripe. Birds in central Asia (caniceps group) have a plain grey head behind the red face, lacking the black and white head pattern of European and western Asian birds. Adults moult after the breeding season with some individuals beginning in July and others not completing their moult until November. After moult birds appear less colourful, until the tips of the newly grown feathers wear away.

The goldfinch is native to Europe, North Africa, and western and central Asia. It is found in open, partially wooded lowlands and is a resident in the milder west of its range, but migrates from colder regions. It will also make local movements, even in the west, to escape bad weather. It has been introduced to many areas of the world. It was introduced to Canada, United States, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Chile, the Falkland Islands, Uruguay, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, in the 19th century, and their populations quickly increased and their range expanded greatly. They now occur from Brisbane to the Eyre Peninsula in Australia, and throughout New Zealand.

Because of the thistle seeds it eats, in Christian symbolism the goldfinch is associated with Christ's Passion and his crown of thorns. The goldfinch, appearing in pictures of the Madonna and Christ child, represents the foreknowledge Jesus and Mary had of the Crucifixion. Examples include the Madonna del cardellino or Madonna of the Goldfinch, painted by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael in about 1505–6, in which John the Baptist offers the goldfinch to Christ in warning of his future. In Barocci's Holy Family a goldfinch is held in the hand of John the Baptist who holds it high out of reach of an interested cat. In Cima da Conegliano's Madonna and Child, a goldfinch flutters in the hand of the Christ child. It is also an emblem of endurance, fruitfulness, and persistence. Because it symbolizes the Passion, the goldfinch is considered a "saviour" bird and may be pictured with the common fly (which represents sin and disease).

The goldfinch is also associated with Saint Jerome and appears in some depictions of him.

The Easter Bunny is a folkloric figure and symbol of Easter, depicted as a rabbit bringing Easter eggs. Originating among German Lutherans, the "Easter Hare" originally played the role of a judge, evaluating whether children were good or disobedient in behavior at the start of the season of Eastertide.[1]

Rabbits have been popular with many Japanese people, and their motif has been used on various items such as table wares, kimono, obi and general merchandise.

Rabbits only drive on forward and don’t step back, so they have been considered lucky as a symbol of advancement.

Meaning & Symbolism of Chrysanthemums

With a history that dates back to 15th century B.C., chrysanthemum mythology is filled with a multitude of stories and symbolism. Named from the Greek prefix "chrys-" meaning golden (its original color) and "-anthemion," meaning flower, years of artful cultivation have produced a full range of colors, from white to purple to red. Daisy-like with a typically yellow center and a decorative pompon, chrysanthemums symbolize optimism and joy. They're the November birth flower, the 13th wedding anniversary flower and the official flower of the city of Chicago. In Japan, there's even a "Festival of Happiness" to celebrate this flower each year.

A symbol of the sun, the Japanese consider the orderly unfolding of the chrysanthemum's petals to represent perfection, and Confucius once suggested they be used as an object of meditation. It's said that a single petal of this celebrated flower placed at the bottom of a wine glass will encourage a long and healthy life.

Note: A good Flickr friend, JS Hsu from Taiwan took me to visit such.

Each colour and every portion in this image represents something special to remind us what Christmas is truly about.

Whether you are for it or against it, the fact remains the Truth of Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ.

Red is for the blood that He shed on a hillside at Golgotha.

Gold is for the precious gift that He gave...

The treetops reaching skyward represent new Life that is found in Him.

Purple for the royal priesthood He has bestowed for those that choose to follow.

...and the Angel in the midst because His birth was proclaimed by angels to the shepherds.

(Luke 2:8-20.)

The message of Christmas is one of Faith, Hope & Love

Love is the Greatest .... 1 Corinthians 13:1

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal"

We do many things in this life out of self interest, we may also be able to speak more eloquently than another and be more successful than another (in our own eyes & in the worlds eyes).

Man can do many marvelous things... but if we have not LOVE it all amounts to NOTHING.

I hope that All will find LOVE in their hearts this Christmas ...but not only at Christmas...

... and I wish YOU all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

This a new version of a butterfly bush. I love this flower :-)

Name meaning:

The genus was named in honor of Adam Buddle (1662–1715), a botanist from England who was responsible for introducing it into England.

The common name “Butterfly Bush” was given because the flowers are very attractive to butterflies.

Buddleia symbolism:

Buddleia represents rebirth, resurrection, and a new beginning.

The Royal Grand Palace is a complex of buildings at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The palace has been the official residence of the Kings of Siam and later Thailand since 1782. It consists of not only royal and throne halls, but also a number of government offices as well as the renowned Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It covers an area of 218,000 square metres and is surrounded by four walls, 1900 metres in length. After King Rama I ascended to the throne in 1782, the palace was built. Prior to this, the royal palace and centre of administration had been located in Thonburi, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. For various reasons, the new King considered the former capital to be unsuitable and decided to establish a new capital on the other side of the river. Admission fee is free of charge for Thais and 500 baht for foreigners. You'll need to wear culturally appropriate attire when visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok. This means being well covered. Visitors should wear long skirts/trousers and sleeved shirts—basically anything that covers more than the lower arms and head. Fortunately, after the covid period, it is not yet busy with tourists. Thailand has just ended their quarantine policy. Face masks are no longer mandatory. Great to visit the Grand Palace one more time now. Chakri Maha Prasat Hall was a royal residence built by King Rama V in 1877. King Rama V used this building as his residence. And now this building is used for state banquets. The Phra Dusit Maha Prasat - throne hall dominates with a tall gilded spire.

The Phra Thinang Dusit Maha Prasat is better known as the 'grand spired hall' because of the tall gilded spire that extends from the center of the building. The spire was intended to resemble the high mountain of Mount Meru, which is considered the mythological center of the universe in Thai culture. There is a tremendous amount of symbolism in the design of the spire. The lowest level consists of seven levels that represent heaven. The central part is shaped in the shape of a bell, in the same way as the stupas where the ashes of the Buddha are buried. The top part is designed to look like a tapered lotus bud, meaning you have to escape the mortal realm and be reborn again. On either side of the spire are a series of garudas, representing the connection of the heavenly realms to the earthly kingdom. Garudas are said to have come from the Himavanta forest around Mount Meru, so this is almost their 'home'. The pediments are decorated with the figures of Narayana riding on the back of a garuda. The Narayana came to earth from heaven to help alleviate the suffering of mankind. This action is representative of what a king should do for his people. Relieve their pain and improve their lives. The roofline ends in a sharp series of finials in the shape of a lion's paw. The lion's paw is said to symbolize the Buddha's family.

So symbolism in photography. We have seen it through the centuries with artists. It is interesting to see how people interpret the symbols artists put into their art.

Worry dolls are small handcrafted dolls that originate from Guatemalan culture. They hold a special place in the tradition and symbolism of the Maya.

According to tradition, children (and adults) tell their worries or fears to the worry dolls before going to bed. The dolls are then placed under the pillow, and it is believed that they take the worries away or deal with the problems during the night.

TYRANNICAL regimes’ ugliness can be covered under a white blanket of snow: A superficial lustre of ostensible happiness and laughter conceals Slavery in broad daylight, allowing monstrous rulers to create an illusion of normality. Tyrants are happy whenever the stormy weather hinders or impedes the protest marches.

The people are unwilling or afraid to criticize the widespread logical fallacies powdered by something as immaculate as snow flakes, or the fallacies enforced by millions’ worth of mighty propaganda. Lips are too frozen stiff (or scared) to speak out about the (nonexistent) emperor’s new clothes.

Hold on, free souls: The snow can and will melt exposing the tyrant bare, without anything on, soon, real soon!
