Bodrum Castle is now an archaeological museum specialising in artefacts recovered from ancient shipwrecks. However the castle grounds are dotted with architectural fragments, stone altars and other pieces of decorative carved marble.
This is one of several drum-shaped stone well heads (puteals) in the castle grounds, decorated with bulls' heads (termed bucrania) linked by swags of fruit. The bucranium represents sacrificial cattle used in ancient Greek and Roman rituals; prior to being sacrificed the animals were were decorated with garlands of fruit and flowers or decorative ropes with tassels.

Fabric swags and stucco embellishments decorate this massive front door. Has to be the house of an important member of the Catholic church as it has the Pope's coat of arms on top.

Swag.
A mosey through manning market, soon to be moved to what will no doubt be a shiny new complex devoid of all color. The structures were originally colonial warehouses; beams thicker than my torso and more than a hundred years old still hold up the cobweb-ridden roofs.
The people are friendly but suspicious of photographers. They all want to know if you're here to report bad things about the market. No, I say, I actually appreciate the smells. Well, most of the time anyway.

I am doing these toe-up. The pattern is cuff down but the pattern repeat doesn’t matter which end is up. So it is easy to switch to toe-up instead.
I have been debating what to do with the Scout’s Swag in Socktoberfest that I got from Silvercat. I was worried that the Zombie pattern might be too busy for the yarn. But so far, I really like the way it looks.
I got to the 64 stitches recommended in the pattern & it fits my foot well. It is a little loose, but I am hoping that it will tighten up a smidge when I block it.
Given the orange in these, I want them knit by Halloween. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough orange in the yarn for them to count for the September Sock Knitter’s Anonymous KAL. Ah well. Still enjoying the pattern & the yarn.
