The tram was decorated as a garden for the 1995 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show and operated on the City Circle route. It was immediately withdrawn from service after the exhibition closed and stored at the Newport railway workshops where I understand it still remains today.
The tram is seen here at the Spencer St. turnback stub at the La Trobe St. corner in December 1995 while the crew took a break.
Looks to be a locals' pub (by no means a bad thing, especially in Fulham), just tucked away a bit. (Close-up of pub sign.)
Address: 81 Dawes Road.

While on the subject of personages: Melbourne was named by Richard Bourke, Governor of New South Wales, in 1837. The settlement was named for William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne ("Lord Melbourne," 1779-1848) who was the British Prime Minister at the time. The name originates from an English market town, Melbourne, Derbyshire.

Depicting passengers on the City Circle SW6 tram number 971 in Latrobe Street, Melbourne, August 2008. My intention was to depict that outside the windows, Melbourne goes by at a different pace, while in the tram, people go into their own worlds, forming a microcosm of the city for the short while they are in there. That's my daughter, Susan, with the smile.
