The SW6 version of Andrew Nolan seemed to be a little more outgoing than the original. Also, he dropped the "Lad" off of his name. But just like the original Ferro Lad, this Andrew could turn his body to iron.
Read up more on Andrew at his Wikipedia page, his Comic Vine entry and his Hero History page.
18th July 2012 at Under the Bridge, London SW6.
Country: United States. Style: R and B.
Lineup: "Dr John" (Mac Rebennack) (v/p/organ/g/percussion), Jon Cleary (p/keyboard/g/percussion/v), John Fohl (g), David Barard (bass g), Raymond Weber (d), Derek Huston (baritone sax), Sarah Morrow (trombone).
Mac Rebennack grew up in the Third Ward. After playing on numerous New Orleans R&B recordings, he made his commercial breakthrough in 1968 as Dr John, the Night Tripper. In recent years he has mostly reverted to a more traditional style R & B. The band included long time colleague David Barard, with Raymond Weber (until recently of Dumpstaphunk) replacing the late Roscoe Ernest. John Fohl has been around for a few years since he replaced Bobby Broom. For this European tour Jon Cleary (who leads his own band and performs with Bonnie Raitt), Derek Huston (once of the Iguanas) and Sarah Morrow (once of the Ray Charles band) made up the Lower 911.

Country: United States - New Orleans. Style: R and B.
Lineup: Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews (trombone/trumpet/v), Tim McFatter (tenor sax), Dan Oestricher (baritone sax), Pete Murano (g), Mike Ballard (bass g), Joey Peebles (d), Dwayne Williams (congas).
For their encore they swapped instruments, and lined up as: Ballard (trumpet), Williams (trombone), Murano (tenor sax), Peebles (g), McFatter (bass g), Andrews (d), Oestricher (congas).>/i>
Troy Andrews was born in Treme in 1986. He is 16 years younger than his older brother, James Andrews. He took up the trombone at a very early age (his first out of town gig with James was aged 4). It was soon after that his brother gave him his moniker, so it has nothing to do with his current height. Aged 7 he lead his first band (Tiny Toones Brass Band), followed by the Trombone Shorty Brass Band. Later he was part of the New Birth Brass Band. Troy Andrews moved away from brass Band music with Orleans Avenue, initially formed with a number of fellow students at NOCCA (New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts).

Melbourne SW6 916 is out for a test run on the J line, seen here approaching 18th Street. The 916 has been undergoing restoration for the past decade, and this run may mark one of its furthest forays from the yard in many years.

Car 965, class SW6, was built by MMTB at Preston Workshops in 1950. It was withdrawn after more than 45 years of service.
I knew that it was "too dark" for photography back then, but I persisted. I must have used a very slow shutter speed (probably 1/30), and braced myself as best I could (perhaps against an overhead support pole). The original slide is very dark, but this image is reasonably viewable following electronic enhancement.
Of course, I had no idea of this tramcar's unusual "retirement venue:" Sporvejsmuseet Skjoldenæsholm (Skjoldenæsholm Tram Museum, a.k.a. Danish Tramway Museum).
Denmark?
"That" Denmark, as in . . .
"Kongeriget Danmark"??
"Youse mighta heard da story:"
Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark (Frederik André Henrik Christian, b. 1968) married Mary Elizabeth Donaldson (b. 1972), a Melbourne marketing consultant born in Hobart, in 2004.
With appropriate ceremony, car 965 was presented in 2005 to the royal couple as a gift from the people of Victoria. The car was shipped to Denmark, where it joined the collection of the Danish Tramway Museum, at Skjoldenæsholm (about 65 km / 40 mi southwest of Copenhagen). The tram is not owned by the museum, but by HRH Crown Prince Frederik and HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark (after all, it was a wedding gift).

A real white letter day to see gorgeous mature elms bearing flowers in London.
Round my way, they are mostly stunted hedgerow suckers that succumb to DED before getting large enough to flower.
