Entered service at K 1946,it had a short stay at NB Norbiton in 1951 then on to HW Southall also 1951.In October 1956 it was involved in an accident with a sand & gravel truck,withdrawn and stored first at HW then CS Chiswick Works,it was decided the bus was beyond economic repair and in April 1957 it was sold to Lammas Motors SW18 for scrap.

Soon after WWII the oiks of the Kensigton & Chelsea Burough Council proposed to replace the old Albert Bridge (above) with a concrete structure....
Thanks to the effort of an old Chelsea resident and conservationist - the Poet Laureate John Betjeman (1906-1984), who rallied the residents against the sham, uneducated plutocracy the plan of replacing the old bridge was dropped and the old structure restored.

There's a story behind this one. A wealthy friend of mine owned the flashy American job for a couple of years during which time he had accumulated a huge number of parking tickets in the West End of London (before they started clamping), had driven it through a barbed wire fence in Wiltshire and generally neglected it. As a consequence he wanted to get shot of it quickly so a thoroughly nice guy I worked with (who had some money and owned the pretty little Lancia in the foreground) and myself (who didn't have any money having just bought a house in this street) bought it off him, spent a couple of days tidying it up and advertised it for sale. It sold within a week and Sarah and I had our first trip to the Caribbean (Jamaica) on the proceeds. Yippee!
