Since it's September and Autumn is right around the corner,

I would like to share this video clip made up of two Firefly images. The audio is from Canva called "The Autumn" by Sebastian Winskog.

Prompts - Beautiful fall day at a woodland stream with the sun shining down through the trees. Same thing but...a deer is getting a drink at the stream.

As we celebrate Resurrection Day tomorrow, we must remember that Good Friday came before. It was good for mankind because the Lord Jesus gave up Himself, His own life so that we could have life forever and our relationship with God the Father permanently restored. Yet for Jesus, He took on the weight of all of the sin of the world: past, present, and future. The full wrath of God was poured out on Jesus, the wrath that you and I deserved, He received instead! This is the most lopsided exchange in all of history; the perfect Son of God took on our sin and clothed us in His perfect righteousness! Jesus was truly forsaken at the cross so that you and I would not have to be, even though we deserved to be! When He cried out, “It is finished!” The temple curtain was torn in two, top to bottom. This curtain blocked access to the Mercy Seat of God, only the High Priest could enter once a year on the day of Atonement with a blood sacrifice, but because of what Jesus did, the curtain was torn down meaning that we can have access to the Mercy Seat of God through Christ at all times! As His blood was poured out, streams of Mercy flowed!

The little forest in Hurst Green.

Normally contrails annoy me.....but on this occasion they nicely frame the pre dawn image of a tree reflected in the puddle formed by heavy rainfall.

"I couldn't hear the water, and Caddy opened the door.

'Why, Benjy.' she said. She looked at me and I went and she put her arms around me. 'Did you find Caddy again.' she said. 'Did you think Caddy had run away.' Caddy smelled like trees.

She smelled like trees.

'Come on, now.' Dilsey said, 'You too big to sleep with folks. You a big boy now. Thirteen years old. Big enough to sleep by yourself in Uncle Maury's room.' Dilsey said.

'You a big boy.' Dilsey said, '... Hush now, so you can go to sleep.' The room went away but I didn't hush, and the room came back and Dilsey came and sat on the bed, looking at me.

'Good night, honey.' Dilsey said. The room went black. Caddy smelled like trees.

We looked up into the tree where she was."

The Sound and the Fury

William Faulkner

This quotation is taken from the Benjy section of Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury. Faulkner frequently used stream of consciousness in his writing. In the Benjy section, the story is told through Benjy, who has a severe intellectual disability; he is pure and untainted by society, and while he is unable to talk he expresses his feelings through his imagination and sensations of the natural world. Benjy loves his sister Caddy, and Caddy is the only family member who shows genuine care and love towards Benjy. Benjy sees Caddy as his source of comfort and order. He does not distinguish between the past and the present and perceives time in a nonlinear way. Benjy's memory of losing Caddy was associated with him having to sleep alone at the age of 13. In Benjy's early memories of Caddy, he associates Caddy's innocence with the smell of the trees in which they used to play. When Caddy entered adolescence and tries to wear perfume and have relationships, she no longer smells like trees and loses her innocence. This throws Benjy's world into chaos, and he responds by moaning and crying.

I needed an image with streaming light in a forest for a compositing project so went out this morning and found one.

I'd finished up taking a few shots at Courthouse Falls last May and decided to try to capture a few close ups of the rushing water...

A moment of fantastic light mixed with a little fog in the Pisgah National Forest. I was taking photos of a picturesque cascade on this stream when I looked behind me and saw this scene unfolding. I quickly turned around to capture this light before it moved on. It was such a simple scene that the light transformed into something more. It always pays to look behind you especially when you have great light behind you.

These two photos I took while on my lunch break at a campground where I was clearing the leaves away for the campers this season. The rocks in this creek were all soft, round and blue. Beautiful place. Great smoky mountain national park, NC, USA

The end of a hike; cross this stream and you are in the parking lot. This is my favorite trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. Each rear I try to pick a destination from this trailhead, and it never gets old to me.

connecting the two lakes

This stream is all fresh water coming down from the mountains and runs then into the ocean water area in West Vancouver, BC. Lots of birds like to drink from this water. In the distance can be seen the Lions Gate Bridge which connects the entire West & North Shore areas with Vancouver proper, by going through the Stanley Park roadway.

I miss this place; one day hope to see it again.
