Izzy is feeling great now that the cast is off her leg. (I rescued her from a landfill where she was dumped by her owner, and she needed a surgery on her knee).

A dog will normally not touch dry bread, as they are far too choosy for that kind of food! This fellow however, a stray Golden Retriever was happy to find something to eat in my backyard on this cold winter day. Something that made me realize he had been on the run for a while...

Sonya (named by the guy who fed her for months) has been living there for YEARS!!! A few days ago I was contacted by Jennifer Velasquez, and together with Karma Rescue we worked out a plan to saver her.

As you can imagine, after years on the street she was filthy, and even though I called in a late hour, my friend Judy from Dirty Hairy - Mobile Dog Grooming offered to groom her right away. It took more than 2 hours of shaving, cleaning, and even getting a blueberry facial. I will post a video and show you this amazing rescue soon ;-)

I just wanted to share a screen shot from Friday's rescue of Socrates.

This poor little boy was spotted by my friend Faith Easdale (who helped me rescue Lily and ended up adopting her).

When she first saw him, he bolted, and disappeared. For the next few weeks she kept looking for him, but didn't have any luck.

On Friday she spotted him again!! She called me, and I asked her if she would follow him slowly until I get there. She said "of course".

It was another semi-long distance rescue. While we headed there, the Bill Foundation saved the day again and offered to foster him as soon as I get him.

It took JoAnn Wiltz & I an hour and a half to get there. Once we arrived I stood there for a few minutes, observed his behavior, tried to figure out a plan, and 10 minutes later we had him :-)

Super matted, filthy, tons of fleas, a few ticks, injured from so many foxtails embedded in his skin which caused a painful infection, he suffers from an ear infection, and he was of course really scared.

Last week "Chewy" came into the New Britain pound showing ONLY HIS TEETH in his cage: I knew that wasn't good, and what can sometimes happen to a dog in a pound that does that! Then I remembered seeing a video, of what Eldad did with a pup named "Chase" and how he saved his life, so I sent the Video to Jimmy the ACO & he watched it! He said that he would try that on the next opening Visiting Day for the dogs, when I was there (I am only a Volunteer) However to my amazement when I walked in that day...there was Chewy out of his cage running towards me, a very happy little puppy. Jimmy The ACO had done the very thing in the VIDEO all by himself! He now realized the truth...that "Chewy" was just afraid! He is a little Chi puppy & was just terrified of being in a cage (He still is, no crates for Chewy!) We found out that Chewy is great with other dogs & even cats! After taking Victoria to her foster mom in El Cajon, I decided to stay in the area for the night (it was after midnight), and in the following morning I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

I had a special moment with the lioness as she was looking right at me.

Such an amazing animal.

I was so busy trying to get a stray dog yesterday, that I didn't have the time to see the post about Hope For Paws winning the car :-)

Stray dog in Old Delhi takes a nap on a stack of flour stacks in an alley

I was driving in Arizona the other day, and luckily noticed this snake in the middle of the road... just sitting there. He clearly got the camouflage idea all wrong :-)

I carefully moved him off the road, and I hope he will stay out of the way from now on.

When I came out of my house this afternoon this dog was on my driveway. There wasn't anybody with it. It was quite friendly but moved off down the road then returned. My neighbour came by with his dog so, with doggy friendliness and the aid of some treats, I clipped the strap off a bag onto his collar. I rang the number on his tag but it went to answerphone. Then we rang the local dog warden who said he'd be round in half an hour. However, after about fifteen minutes, the owner rang me back. They only live a couple of hundred yards away but I've never met her, or seen the dog, before. She came down and dog and owner were happily re-united. She thought it was in the garden but plainly it can easily wander out.

Java Sparrows are so beautiful. They are really skittish, so it was hard for me to get a good shot, but I just had to share their beauty. (Click here to view large)
